So I have a new LAMBDA Therma Switch that I bought by mistake. Should I replace it? Where does it go? I see it in the manual, but it looks like it is under the fuel distributor??

What does this do and do they go bad? I don't want to replace it if not needed.

This switch is located on the Y pipe underneath the intake manifold.
Save it until you need it, or when you are draining the coolant for exchanging it.

As Bitsyncmaster mentioned in the other thread on this subject it has to do with cold start.

The Switch, Lambda Sensor is underneath the Intake Manifold and the Sensor is attached to the Water Distributor Pipe.
Switch, Lambda Sensor item 25 on page 1/3/0 of the Parts Manual.

My paper copy of the Parts Manual does not list item 25 but it is on the web site.

The Switch, Lambda Sensor is also on page 2/3/0 of the Parts Manual and they almost never ever go bad. So just keep it until the day your Water Pump begins to fail and you will need to remove the entire Intake Manifold with the Fuel Distributor still attached to it.
The Intake Manifold needs to be removed to access the backside of the Water Pump only when the Pump starts weeping coolant out of the bottom hole like mine did many years ago.

What does the Switch, Lambda Sensor do? I actually don't know the answer. I have a Wiring Diagram and I couldn't locate the Switch, Lambda Sensor on it. I searched online and all I got was Lambda Sensor Oxygen Sensor for the exhaust system which is not the item I'm looking for...

#25 SWITCH, LAMBDA SENSOR (http://dmctalk.org/p-6266-switch-lambda-sensor.aspx) = #149 "Thermal Throttle Enrichment" on Workshop Manual Schematic/Legend (Light Green wire). It changes the pulse ratio for the Frequency Valve to a fixed value when the coolant is below 59F (for richer fuel).

Correct. It provides the same function, and is actually wired in parallel with, the full throttle microswitch.
