Hi all,

I found this photo on tumblr a few months ago, and I was wondering if anyone knew

a) where it was taken
b) who took it
c) if they had it in higher resolution?

It's one of my favourite DeLorean photos. Was this in the states or in Dunmurry? I was under the impression that the cars sat outside at the factory...

Thanks!

a) Warehouse at Belfast Docks
b) Good question
c) This is the only size that I have seen.

The white line on the left of the photo suggests it was a scan - so DMC newsletter, perhaps?

I understand that the photograph was taken by an employee of the Belfast Telegraph and published in that paper whilst DeLorean Motor Cars was in Receivership.

Most, if not all pictures of that era had to be scanned in order to be uploaded to a computer/server.

I scanned the photo from a book called Belfast a Century

the photo is taken at a warehouse down by the docks; as Nick says it was during the receivership.

Somehow missed the replies to this - thanks all for the information.

KMC - is the photographer credited? I would love to get a large scale print of this made.

I found an image on Tumblr a couple of days ago. This thread reminded me of it.

I like the little orange Delorean tub and frame model.

Ha - that's my tumblr :) I don't always post DeLorean stuff, but I've got a load of bits going up soon.

It is indeed Mike.

Look at the engine mounted in the frame behind him! Not remotely close to the stock setup that came later. Very historical picture.

EDIT: Possibly a Lotus chassis?

I'm assuming it's at Lotus, going by the Esprit (might be something else?) bodywork behind him.

Hehehe, small internet. I thought it was an awesome picture. The haircut, pose, expression, and sideburns remind me of Cave Johnson.

Heh! Yeah, I thought something similar. Early days and he already looks hacked off with the whole project!

I just rebuilt a g-body Esprit and I can tell you that chassis is most likely from an S2 Esprit, given the wheel style. The engine is the Lotus 907, inline 4. It would be fun for that to be something related to DeLoreans but its just what Lotus was producing at the time.

Has anyone else thought of spending lottery winnings to recreate this? Buy a hanger and start collecting DeLoreans?

More likely to be done with HotWheels cars and a model kit.
