DMCH Keyless Module Help

Has anybody ever had problems with this? Mine will unlock the doors but will not lock them. Seems I have ruled out the door locks themselves and the door lock module. I disconnected the keyless module and performed the Fault isolation steps for the door lock module. Every step passed. The door locks actuate strong and fast. The weird thing is when the keyless module is hooked up and the doors are unlocked after they unlock they "bounce back a slight amount and return to the unlocked position. Since the lock function does not work at all I suspect the keyless module is bad. Anybody have an similar problems?

Do you have the original solenoids or do you have actuators?
My best guess is that - in both cases - your lock rods need adjustment.

Look at the fingers at the bell crank: they have to position correctly at the contacts.
If they bounce off, the lock rods to the rear latch probably cause this incorrect placement.

A friends of mine had almost the same problem (one door unlocks fine, the other tunred to lock again).
This however was caused by the door handle cable (too long) combined with a rear latch rod being a bit short.

Check all of these points.

First confirm the locks are working without the keyless module installed. Sit inside the car, and manually lock the passenger's side. Does the power lock kick in and lock the driver's side? Do the same from the driver's side, does the passengers side lock? Do you hear the solenoid/actuator trying to fire?

If you hear it trying to fire, but no locking happens, then you can be pretty confident it is a linkage issue.

If it works correctly, then you know your linkages and lock module are good. Reconnect the keyless module and try again. Do the locks fire when manually pressed? Do they still not fire via the remote? If it works with out the keyless module, but doesn't work with it, you might have a bad keyless module.

EDIT: Somehow I missed that you already tested the DLM. If your locks are firing without it, my guess is that you need a different keyless module, but certainly check what Welmoed suggested.

Does the keyless module make a relay click noise? Im on my second keyless module from DMCH, my first one stopped sending power to the relays in the module, it would click as always but no outputs. This second one is starting to fail already, it wont unlock everytime but it always clicks. Sorry to say its just a junk Audiovox rip off of a stripped down alarm module, They dont seem to last.

The remote of my security system doesn't produce an audible click, however it's noticeable with your finger.

Have you tried exchanging the battery inside the remote.
If you have those dor poppers and use them frequently, the battery dies quicker than without door poppers.
I know by experience.

There also is a difference in power consumption between remotes from various brands.
The difference however is little, but adding consumption of door poppers the battery may reach the end quicker.

What do you mean with it won't unlock everytime ?

Does it try to ? can you hear the solenoids work in the doors ?
You know that the solenoids can burn and then get too weak to work reliable
or they burn so much that they fail completely.

And - what exactly do you hear clicking ?

The oem side has always worked. Im talking about the relays inside the dmch keyless reciever, you can hear it clicl twice but no signal is outputed. My last module failed after a year of service, again it made noises but no output signals for lock or unlock. This new module will work one day, the next it will not put out an unlock signal.

If you have solenoids that have burnt windings it could cause this and damage the relay contacts in the module. Even with burnt windings the solenoids may work (if they are not burnt up too badly) but they draw excessive amounts of current and do not have sufficient power. There is a great How-To on rewinding them or you can replace them or you can convert to actuators. Pop the cover off the relay and see if you can clean the contacts on the relays. That may be enough to make it work. All of this is assuming the door linkage is properly adjusted and that both doors close reliably into the second locking position. The most common reason for the linkage to to get out of adjustment is that it gets forced into the lock position when one of the latches is NOT in second locking position.

Right but the actual power to operate the door solenoids comes from the lock module not the keyless unit, that is just a relay for the larger relay for the door locks. The output signal wires from the keyless unit are just 22 gauge they dont have much of a load. FYI my locks are working fine today, thats usually how things on my car work after I dont drive the car for over a week:(

Problem here - very often people don't understand the system on this car and then we get here
possibly wrong informations we have to deal with. To close this out I need you to watch these
things more in details.

reason:

When one door does not lock or unlock perfectly, the power locks won't work the next time you
want to lock or unlock ! Both doors have to be in the same condition (locked or unlocked) so that
it can work.

To drive the ECU there's not much current needed (100mA), any relay can drive this, therefore
I doubt a bit that the remote unit is bad.
