I bought a billet aluminum pulley. It came with a lock washer.
When installing pulley, does the lock washer go under the pulley, or under the nut? Any washers in between?
Finally, how to tighten nut? And how would I know if it is tight enough, proper torque?

In my experience, a lock washer Always goes under the nut, (When using one).

NUT > LOCK WASHER> FLAT WASHER > PULLEY. This would be considered a normal hardware stack up.

I've never heard of a lockwasher on a crankshaft nut. But then I've never used an aluminum pulley there either. What does the vendor say?

Agreed, He did not specify what the pulley application was.

I was kind of guessing, as the A/C pulleys are not held on with nuts, the water pump pulley is a press-on, I've never seen anyone sell an alternator pulley, and there was some guy on here a while ago selling aluminum crankshaft pulleys (not a regular vendor but someone who just seems to sell pulleys).

Sorry guys, it is for the alternator!
The stock pulley, from John Hervey, It was Nut, pulley, lockwasher, fan, and washer on bottom.
It was Nut, pulley, lockwasher, fan, and washer on bottom.
Hmmmm...I have rebuilt thousands of alternators (literally) and I have never see one assembled like that.
Should be: Fan offset spacer, fan, pulley, maybe a flat washer, usually a lock washer, then nut.

Lock washer should make contact with the nut, unless used as spacer, in this case follow manufacturer's instructions.
