A couple weeks ago I went to see Vin# 11041 for sale in the middle of no where Tennessee. On my way back from no where, what do I see sitting in someone's front yard..... Another Delorean. Of course I parked a few blocks down and walked back to the house to take a closer look. I knocked on the door and ended up speaking with the owner's sister who let me see the car and take a few pictures. The car is a 5-Speed with Black interior and still had the original NCTs on it. Her brother has owned the car since 2004 and when he encountered a problem with the transmission, he parked it. So here it sits. I was in my F-150 so I'm not sure the sister believed me when I mentioned I also owned a Delorean. I gave her my phone number and asked that she give it to her brother as I may be able to assist him getting it back on the road.

Today I took my Delorean (15500) back to the owner's house and spoke with him. The sister didn't give him my phone number as expected so I made sure he had it before I left. He really didn't talk much so I didn't get a whole lot of information. In case you're wondering, he's not interested in selling. I did tell him he's needs to get it in the garage and out of the yard or it will be worth nothing more than a parts car. Hopefully he'll give me a call and we can get this Delorean back on the road, the frame was still in good condition Anyway, here are the pictures.

There seems to be an unusual amount of these cars in your neck of the woods. Keep on digging them out :)

Seems a bit odd that when you asked if he wanted to sell it he didn't at least say "how much?" Money talks most of the time. Maybe he hasn't got the title for it as the plates are missing. Might be worth a follow up visit with cash and a promise to get it out of the yard that day.

If there is one thing I'm great at, it's "closing the deal" but the only thing "odd" about the visit was the owner. Definitely a bit different to say the least and I've been dealing with Delorean owners since 1981. I've seen a lot of odd owners in 31 years but this one has to be in the top 3 and that's including DMCJOE for those of you that remember him. If I could have bought it, I would have. He wants to get the car back on the road, period.

Maybe he's hiding a body in the car and can't sell for obvious reasons. Or maybe he feels a little embarrassed or immasculated, and can't or won't accept someone's help. Hopefully he will take you up on your offer. Took guts though to approach him cold, good for you.

From what I've seen, having a car or two rotting in a yard/field is pretty common in middle-of-nowhere Tennessee (and there's a lot of that). I guess from a statistical standpoint, a DeLorean or two is bound to be in the mix! Kirk does have a real knack for finding them, though.

Glad to hear you offered to help the guy get the car up and running again... It looks pretty rough on the outside but the interior didn't look too bad. Did you point him here to the forum by chance? If he seemed like the quiet type maybe reading the board would be easier than having to call someone.
