Hi all,

I've posted this in "historical", but it may not be the correct place; moderators please feel free to move it.

I've posted a similar thread on one or two of the other forums but I'm hoping to get a wide census of opinion on this one. I'm hoping someone can help with a question about the fasteners for the washer bottle canopy, part number 15 on this diagram:

I was wondering at what stage during production the factory changed these fasteners from white nylon captive nuts...

...to the aluminium rivnuts currently sold by DMC.

I received a reply on the Millennium Concours newsgroup stating that DMC used the aluminium rivnuts on both early and late cars.

The car in question is a Wooler-Hodec car and like most cars from that batch it was re-vinned before it was first sold in 1983. Recent research suggests that the car's original VIN is in the late 5XX / early 6XX range. Has anyone on here with an early car removed their washer bottle canopy? If so, what type of fasteners does your car have?

Cheers,

Phil
