According to the ad this one has a 5.0 liter Ford V8 conversion. Looks pretty rough!

If I were close I would offer him 3.5k, settle at 4k, part it out and sell Houston the rest. The quarters are probably toast judging by the black rattle can job but there is a little money to be made there if you are close by.

Yup I'm high bidder right now but I'm close to my top dollar for that one and reserve hasn't been met.

Looks like someone did a drive by, took some photos of the car sitting there and stuck a trolling ad on CL :)

This car has been around for a while. I've heard about it over the past few years while doing different (non-DMC) car shows. Especially the ones I've done near the city where this car is located. I believe it's another failed engine swap. To my knowledge the owner has never participated in DMA or LINY-DMC events or tech sessions. I think It's a basket case based on what I've heard. But you can't go by the GINORMUS amount of BS you hear at car shows.

The first ad is a new one on me. It sounds like the car must be located upstate somewhere. Judging by the snow in the pics It must be far upstate. Since the Nor' easter hit after Sandy we've been dry as a bone. In all honesty the seller of this one sounds like he has no idea what he's talking about or has no idea what he's trying to sell. I'd ask to see a few engine bay pics. He even lists it as an AMC in the ad. Possibly a misprint but I always double check my ads before posting. Might be a cheap buy from some idiot who inherited it or something.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of transmission they could be talking about? "VW automatic transmission." My first thought would have been beetle but those were only offered in manuals.

There was an "Automatic Stick Shift"....basically when you moved the shifter it would make contact with a switch at the base which activated a vacuum solenoid to work the cutch... just let off of the gas shift and carry on..

Any idea who owns it now? More importantly if they have the mounts/adaptors/swap accessories available for sale?

I only remember Chris burns posting about it on his Facebook sometime last year. Talk to him; he might know. Honestly though, from my recollection, it was very poorly swapped (hence why they swapped it back) so it's likely it all got trashed. Also, the car was an automatic so it would all be auto adapter stuff, not manual. Best of luck.

EDIT; also if you need, I have a drawing for a small block ford to UN1 adapter plate.

Good to know, thank you!

Most importantly I've been trying to see what mounting options were chosen. My biggest concern with the swap has been many of the V8's I've seen has been the chopping of the rear cross member. That's pretty scary if you get rear-ended. I'm just trying to see if anyone was able to install a V8 without chopping that section, and what, if anything, had to be cut out of the front firewall. And it that was achieved, I'd love to know how.

Thanks for the offer on the adaptor plate. I did find a place in the UK that has a selection of adaptors for UN1/369 to Ford & Chevy Small blocks as well as Modular & Coyote engines too.

If nothing else I'll just go turbo. Either on my existing engine, or a swap.

For what it's worth, I didn't cut my rear frame cross member for my swap. I just made it bolt on so that it could be removed for access. I also still have the foam bumper and everything.
