Why would anybody buy this? - Copied Picture

I don’t mean to come across as a hater. I am genuinely confused and curious as to why there would be a market for this.

Ever since I have had my car and been looking on ebay, I have seen this ad for a signed photo of MJF and CL from BTTF.


Firstly, I have always wondered what “signed by 2 rp” in the title meant? 2 real people? 2 Role Players?

On actually reading the ad, I see that it is just a copy of a signed photo that the seller claims he has. Or maybe it’s a copy of a copy.

And to make matters worse, the photo is reversed making it look like MJF is in the only RHD BTTF car in existence.

People will do anything to make money, and the type of person upon whom the seller is preying is the type of person that will not read the entire text of the ad and will simply assume they're buying an actual autographed print.

Just to play devil's advocate for a moment, in sort of the same sense as the "not so accurate Diamond Select FC" and the Hoverboards with their flaws, if I could get another display piece for car shows and it was a signed picture like this one (well, maybe not the reversed part) and it was only a couple dollars, it might be a decent option.

I know the autographing industry has fakes all over the map, whether it be from athlete or actors or whatever, but if you don't buy it at a price that it should be real, and just take it for what it is, to me it doesn't matter if it's real or not. Sure the story behind it isn't very exciting, like a time when you were a kid and went to spring training in Florida and got a pile of ball players to sign a ball for you, or something like that.

But if something like this that is extremely hard to prove whether it is real or not is only going to be for your own sentimental value because you don't want to sell it anyway, maybe an immitation isn't all that bad? Again, if you pay $5 for a fake this is okay. If you pay $500 for a fake, not so much.

And hey, the guys with the $5 Rolexes out of the briefcase on the corner seem to keep busy.
