Interesting idea, but kind of been done before. Though a small scale for outer space is a fantastic idea. Some garbage dumps already extract the methane gas as fuel for energy plants. ConAgra I believe also has or was going to build an experimental energy plant in Utah where pig feces gets washed automatically into drains where it is collected and piped into a breeder reactor that generates methane for fuel for a power plant. I've heard rumors that china is also starting to do the same. I think they called it biogas.
