Hello all, I am a first time poster here and am in need of some help with my delorean i recently bought. A few months back i saved a delorean that was going to be sold and parted out. the car had a small fire which looks to have started on top of the engine the only damage was to the wiring to the engine and the engine itself, like i said it was a small fire the fiberglass body looks untouched as does the stainless steel. My current problem is finding a engine for the car and wiring it, I was hoping to do the 3.0 eagle premier conversion since it would bolt up to my delorean trans axle and i have the lower crankcase off the delorean motor that i can switch over, so i recently purchased a complete running 1991 eagle preimer, a complete car with engine harness and computer. So more to the point the motor has has 90,000 miles on it and while i had the lower crank case off i wanted to install new rod and main bearings and get the crank polished but the only problem is i cannot seem to find connecting rod bearings or main bearing. I have check autozone, advance auto parts napa, summit racing, even the Chrysler dealer with no luck, Napa did have them listed but when i ordered them they where not the correct rod bearings, they were much to small. So my questions is does anyone know where i may be able to order bearings for this engine, and any info on the conversion of the 3.0 into the delorean would help me greatly. Or i may consider transplanting a different engine all together such as a 4.3 chevy into the delorean my question there is does anyone make a bell housing to adapted the UN1 transaxle to a 4.3 chevy engine or just a adapter plate to mate them together. sorry for all the questions but i've been stewing on these questions for a month and i've been searching online for the answers but have come up short, I thank any and all of you for the advice you may be able to give me.

90K!?!
Could the problem getting bearings be that there were two engines Z7X-711 and Z7X-715 used in the Eagle Premier (VIN code U)?

I think Josh at DeLoreanIndustries.com will be able to help you.

According to Napa And the Chrysler dealer both engines use the same bearings,so i don't believe that is the issue.

There should be numbers on them...

For what you probably paid for a very tired car (and motor) the money probably would have been better spent either fixing up the motor you had or buying a crate motor form DMCH. You can also either repair or replace the engine wiring harness. Doing an engine swap is always more time consuming and expensive then you figure. Especially if you are starting out with a "tired" engine. At this point since you are committed to this path, your best bet is to find a good machine shop and let them find and fit bearings for you. Any adapters to fit a different engine to the transaxle will require a custom built adapter. I would be more concerned about the rings, pistons and liners then the bearings at 90,000 miles but the PRV seems to be a very hardy and long-lived engine if properly maintained and not overheated. As for the fuel system on top of the motor, you can probably pick up everything you need from someone who did a carb conversion and has all of these parts "left over".
