OK, it’s the end of 2012. How many miles did your DeLorean cover this year? This was a busy year for some with DCS.

Notes:

Miles on a transporter don’t count
If you are a new owner this year (for a part-year) only use the miles that you have driven since you got it.
Honor code survey just for fun.
Feel free to estimate mileage if your angle drive is broken (though you won't be eligible for the big prize - see below)
If more than one car, you can select multiple options. Unless both cars fall in the same category

PRIZES -

1000 internet points for highest 2012 mileage and another 1000 points for longest trip (a trip can be “There and Back Again”, or “one-way” if you were moving house for example).

What's the cash value of internet points?

Unfortunately I only qualify for estimated mileage.

For the year is ~8000 miles. Driving between early June and mid November.

Longest single trip was ~3200 miles. Minneapolis to Orlando and back for DCS2012.

I can't compete with Jim!

I don't have my official spreadsheet in front of me, but it was about 2,000 miles.

Longest trip for me was a Nor Cal event (http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?5512-Amazing-Marin-drive-today) along the Pacific coast. I think I did about 340 miles that trip.

Vin 5000....about 250 miles. Gotta do better with this car!

Vin 16128......8000 miles from June until now. She was at DPI the first 6 months of the year.

Although the rules state Transport Miles do not apply, the D Rex has visited both coasts this year, as well as a trip to the Motor City,
clocking in over 8800 miles, which in itself is a pretty impressive amount of travel. It was a great way to celebrate its 10th Anniversary.

On a related note, the DeLorean Limo also clocked in just under 4000 Transport Miles this year as well, as part of its Display Debut Year.

Later,
Rich W.

It appear you have not yet voted for 16128's mileage. I'm still the only one above 5000 miles.

You are correct Jim. 90%+ of my posts and activity are thru tapatalk. Therefore, no voting as I can't see that function (voting) on tapatalk. I'll log in thru a computer, when I can, to correctly vote.

maybe I should point out that the poll is intended only for owners, sorry.

For would-be owners, while technically correct that the D you don't yet own hasn't traveled any miles, please don't vote that way.

Likewise, BTTF owners can't enter negative numbers

Question: I've only driven about a quarter mile this year. The lowest option is zero, and the next one up starts at one. Rounding to the nearest number would conflict with the "didn't turn a wheel" option. So, do I select one or zero?

Or is this an estimate for the entire year? Before the year's over, I'll put many more miles on it, but definitely not 100.

Your choice! Whatever you can rest easy with at night. :)

If you have driven it on the road at all, I would pick 1-100.

The poll is open for 30 days if you want to wait till 12/31 )assuming we get past 12/21. )

What's the cash value of internet points?

In this case, the prizes are points and we all know that points make prizes, so it's a bit of a vicious circle, I am afraid.

My car is a daily driver, the only car I own. So I covered a lot this year.

I don't know exactly, but I do know I've driven mine just a touch over 2,000 miles in 2012. Somewhere between 2,000 and 2,500.
If I used it as my daily driver, I would have done that much in one month haha.

If you have driven it on the road at all, I would pick 1-100.Therein lies the problem. I've only coasted on the road, downhill, from the transport truck to my driveway. But once in my driveway, I drove it between parking spots (driveway to garage to driveway to garage).

The poll is open for 30 days if you want to wait till 12/31 )assuming we get past 12/21. )Well in that case, I'll have driven for more than 1 mile by that point, so I'll vote for the 1-100 option. And if the world does in fact end on 12/21, then this poll will be a moot point anyways.

16432 went from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and back this year... I think that's about 600 miles. On a side note, she just blew past 140,000 miles! :-)

Only mileage this year are the airline miles from the parts I've bought. Lots of progress, just havent pulled the whole package together yet. -Patrick

I drove my car 2,968 miles this year. First full summer of driving as a DeLorean owner.

In the two and a quarter years that I've had 1150 I've been averaging about 6,000 miles per, way less than the 12,000 per that I averaged in the 19.5 years that I had 1662. Both have been daily drivers, but 1662 was an only car when I was single, and I got 1150 only a month before becoming a couple, and we do use Vanessa's newer and more practical Toyota almost exclusively when going places together. I'd have to check the mileage on the Toyota, but we'll have had it from new two years early next month, and I believe it's approaching the 30,000 mark. This from a girl who once asked me "will I really need a car in America?..." If the public transit in South Florida were anywhere near as good as it is in her native Medellin, Colombia I'd have been able to say maybe not, but now she believes me ;-)

Longest trip for me... Drove from Tallahassee FL early in year to NYC, and just did the same back to FL. Longest in the car, other than gas stop, was 10 hours from the NC to FL stretch. NYC roads should count for triple milage...

;) Based on your DPI thread, I'm not sure how you will be accumulating these miles :elmo1:

Looks like Jim/dmc6960 is in the running for the Longest Trip award with 3200 miles.

We have three in the >15,000 category. To declare a winner, we'll need actual numbers (scout's honor guys) or you will all just get 333 internet points each for a tie

I've put 6,000 on mine since August. I'm taking my friend Marty Maier's advice that the best way to maintain my car is to drive it.

;) Based on your DPI thread, I'm not sure how you will be accumulating these miles :elmo1:I originally was, but now I'll have to rely on the Dyno testing on Monday, which should get me over the 1 mile mark. New Year's Eve, just in the nick of time. :)

I think Texastwister wins this poll. He traveled over 20,000 in his US tour that last about 5 months. TX to CA to Canada to Maine to FL and back to TX.

We still need to hear from Ian himself. Looking forward to seeing his updated blog, and photos.

Ok this was an unusual year. A 22,740 mile road trip with a total for the year of about 28,000.
The road trip was a blast. Now I have to do the middle part of the US!

Ian,

That's a great thing you were able to do. Most of us are envious. Perhaps your next trip will take you to Alaska, then on the way back head east on the TransCanadian Hwy 1 till you run out of road and hop a ferry to St. Johns Newfounland.

For me the year was lower than usual with between 1500-2000 mi. (Round trips to Indy and WNW of the Twin Cites) was 80% of it.

Based on my speedo when I picked the car up at DMC Florida and as of last night, I've logged 3,868 miles.
This doesn't take into account when the speedo died on my trip back home from Florida, and when I fixed it 3 weeks later.
I've estimated that at 900 miles, based on gas receipts and now knowing what my MPG is around town.
(Granted, I've only had the car since 9/12).

Considering that my daily commute is only 17 miles round trip, I think I'm doing OK...
