I have the start of a PRV simulation and would appreciate any feedback and clarification on exact geometry. We estimated the following:
1) Port diamter, at the head and at the valve seat
2) Rocker ratio and cam lift (1.5?)
3) Cam center line (108?)
4) Cam profile / lift
5) Cfm of the carbs

Based on my discussion with other PRV guys the trends of the results look correct but before I proceed further I would like to get a group confirmation the input data looks correct. I will be looking for the 2.8 and 3.0 data next so if you have that I would appreciate the help.

Regards,
Brian

Firstly, I think you will get much better response on the 2.85 from this group rather than the other two engines, but I'm sure you were aware of that. There are some 3.0 guys here, but only one 2.7 that I am aware of.

Secondly, earlHickey are you paying attention. This is how to "win friends and influence people" and get whatever info there is to share.

This looks great btw.

I need to get the 2.8 and 3.0 geometry as well, port size, length, plenum volume, throttle body diameter..... I need that data to do the A to B to C comparison. I am hoping the tech heads on the forum have this info and will share it. I would certainly appreciate the data.

Some errors here but a contact in France provided the corrections. I am missing the intake details though.

I was just about to post some corrections when I saw that bottom line. Lets see the corrected version before we fill in any more blanks!

I have a Chilton manual, internet specs, and a various correspondence with different data for the same engine. If you see errors please let me know. In particularly would appreciate real data from measured parts or dyno curves etc. Empirical data is best. Thanks for your response, it is good to see folks looking in and taking interest.

The last part of the study the we did was an effectivity chart:

http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g89/dallarax19/EffecitivityChart.jpg (http://s54.photobucket.com/user/dallarax19/media/EffecitivityChart.jpg.html)
AHP = Average Horsepower
ATQ = Average Torque
PHP = Peak Horsepower
PTQ = Peak Torque

I had been reworking the last bits of my Fiat engine before diving into the PRV. I got only 204 miles on my fresh rebuild and lost a piston, a brand new JE piston cut specifically for my car. ARRRGH!

So I covered everything with rust inhibitor and pushed everything under the car and started on the Alpine.

Overall it looks good. I found some sloppy work done in the past, just see all the silicone on the intake. Looks like both cam gears had come loose at one point. The head looks good but the cam gear dowel pins are a bit chewed up. Only one broken bolt in the tear down. I just bought some parts from the Del Mo Co guys so now I am looking for a source to C02 blast it. Can't swing the cams at the moment but will do some port work to clean it up. Very strange on the port lead in there is a large chamfer but no smooth lead in. The same for the intake manifold, huge chamfer but the ports are not blended. I am corresponding with the UK and French guys on parts, "gotchas" and recommended sealants for the block to crank case joint and gearbox. I will post as I make progress. Any links to posts on previous rebuilds would be appreciated.

...recommended sealants for the block to crank case joint and gearbox.

Permatex Anaerobic sealant and activator is the only way to fly on this. See my oil leak how-to here: http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?7419-How-To-Resealing-the-PRV-s-oil-leaks

I saw your write up on the sealing issue and it was very helpful. I am finding recommended gasket material is all over the map between France, the UK , and the US. I just got a quote to dry ice blast my block at $450 - ouch. Seems a bit much for my need. I am curious what other people have done for cleaning the block. My real concern is the scale in the nooks at the bottom of the water jacket around the cylinder liner interface. What is standard practice by everyone?
