A couple of Barrett Jackson Deloreans for the 2013 auction in Arizona.

Barrett-Jackson's site seems to be intermittently slow when there's no active auctions. Not sure why it does this, and it started off being slow for me too, but I was able to get direct links to both lot numbers. Both are 5-speeds, and other than the floor mats on the second one, they are by all indications original and unmodified.

The first one is lot number 650 [link (http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?ln=650&aid=466)]. VIN 1380, stated 8,540 original miles, stored in a climate controlled building.

The second one is lot number 700 [link (http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?ln=700&aid=466)]. VIN 15584, stated 8,857 original miles (although odometer shows 8,862.95), stored in a climate controlled museum for 20 years, original tires, states everything fully functional. Interestingly states it's the 14th car produced and the 13th imported into the US, although this is far from accurate, even if you only consider the '83 model year. Not sure where he got that information from.

Let's hope this doesn't turn out like the last auction...

Lot 650 will not be shown, but maybe Lot 700. I really want to see the 83 Delorean! Looks like a beauty. The 81 is a repeat from the last auction.

It was just a guess, but judging where they stopped last night and judging by how many cars they go through during an hour. Anyway its just an estimate.

I also like to see what Clark Gable's Mercedes Gullwing goes for and the 66 Batmobile!:rock_on:

I hope they air it, but if not then that's OK. Barrett Jackson redeemed itself last year with the airing of the DeLorean and buyer interview. I would however like to see more "oddball" cars that are not generaly accepted by the collector crowd as worthy....it's the odd ball cars that interest me most. Lately I have really grown fond of late 60's and 70's family haulers(station wagons) and 50's era family sedans.

So it seems like there was not much BJ Effect going on with these cars this year anyway

VIN 1380 was still listed on Auto Trader as of a few days ago through the same dealer in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Price reduced at 28,900. The car was actually still owned by a private party but was being sold on consignment.

I think the seller made off quite a bit better selling it through Barrett Jackson instead. They would have had to pay fees either way if the dealer in Wisconsin had sold it.

If I remember correctly the original asking price through the WI dealer was around 32k.

Of course, a third party could have bought it from the WI dealer and was just flipping it at BJ.

As seen in this image Hemmings' Jeff Koch says "DeLoreans are finally getting their due...they're breaking out as some of the most collectible cars of the '80's." He goes on to say that the $45,650 selling price of that second car, which he nails as being in Original/#1 Condition, was a good deal for both buyer and seller. Sports & Exotics, pp 86-88 of the April, 2013 edition.

For Michael the other 19 B-J Scottsdale auction cars that they featured on 3 pages of the magazine included such oddball cars as a TVR, a Yugo, a Morris Minor pickup, and a Citroen 2CV all mixed in with more mainstreamers as a Rolls, an XK-E and some Benzes. In fact, that was the theme of this month's Auction Profile there. After describing the eye-popping numbers for the overall auction the Koch said "...there were also vehicles that mere mortals could partake in. Some of these are described anon." Then the 20 profiled cars, including that pristine D, were shown along with his commentary for each one.

Nice. Thanks for posting that. Finally - and hopefully - DeLoreans ARE getting their due. I'm sick of them being considered "funny" joke cars when they should be considered real collector cars.

There is only 750 of them and a lot of them are metric. Also built outside the factory in the states after seizure of assets IIRC.
