I like this kind of old style mild steel and I'm planning to buy. But I don't really know what is the benefit of this simple matter. Can you give me some idea about this? I am kinda interested.

I can tell you that one of the drawbacks of this system over the modern systems is that the flanges use the holes used by the stock system. This means if you break a stud like I have you can't just abandon the hole and use the opposite. You're stuck trying to get that broken stud out.
