If you are going to paint one, that's the way to do it. They left all the black parts alone. I even like the color...its understated and a nice change from red and black that seems to dominate most painted DeLoreans.

Ads like the blue one frustrate me. Specifically the photos.

It was a beautiful day - why not roll the car a few more feet into the sunshine and really show off the color.:sing:

And the one with the Stage II - how can you tell from this picture? I thought there was a plaque on the firewall?

I think only a few got the plaques. I didn't get a plaque. Another guy I no didn't get a plaque. I don't believe Chad got a plaque, but I could be wrong. Maybe only Houston had the plaques.

I like how the ad says it will need some cosmetic work. It looks like this car was driven by a bunch of badgers.

Wow. That'll bring a tear to your eye. Yea, right on about "car needs some cosmetics." That's appropriate if the guys is aiming for the understatement of the year award. Yikes.

That car would be a small fortune just to replace the stuff that is missing. LFF looks like a mess, no front lip spoiler/fan shroud, louvres are crooked, no license plate bezel, marker lights look like they were target practice for someone. Nice job on the seats, lol. Dash too. But it probably "runs and drives great." Any idea why the right taillight lense doesn't have yellow on the right turn signal spot, but looks clear instead? Does that happen if they get faded/left in the sun? Interesting routing of the engine wiring on top of the air filter housing?!

The price of that car would have to knock off a zero on the end. Maybe two. Geesh.

I think there was a thread once talking about or theorizing why some Tailights fade to white. Probably a bad batch and the uv fades it to white, but that is only a guess.

I contacted them about this car. The engine is seized.

$5000. Tops. It's getting damn close to parts car.

Jonathan

Any idea on the vin?

The Beverly Hills car ad refers to it as "Stock 02499" which could be the VIN of 2499, or just some sort of dealership inventory number.

It doesn't come up in the DoD, but on the Texas chronology site it comes up as July 81, black, grooved, flap (transmission not listed). It also lists it being in Conneticut. I don't know if I put much "stock" in that 2499 being the VIN as I don't see a flapped hood and that VIN is a bit early for a rear antenna. The rims are light gray which is okay I think. I honestly don't know if that interior was once black or was it gray?

Here some pics of the 83 for sale. The top half of the car is beautiful, but that undercoated frame makes me wonder if there are any rust issues underneath the coating. This apparently was one of the cars that sat for months at the docks in Ireland while waiting to be shipped to the US.

From what I know, the frame will only rust if the epoxy cracks, exposing the steel. So why this fear of rust on these brand new, crack free frames just because they are at the docks, regardless of the salty air?

tiger38117

The epoxy frames may not have rusted in the salt air, but all the fasteners and other corrosive metal parts did.

There are some project Deloreans coming up for sale like crazy in the upcoming month. I guess people are doing "spring cleaning".

The president of the Indiana Delorean club has several Deloreans coming up for sale (mostly project cars). They will be on Ebay shortly.

e-mail Jason Sharkey at [email protected] for more info.

The Stage 2 car on Ebay has one day to go with the bidding at 16k. I emailed Danny about the car and he said it had some light surface frame rust and some interior wear and tear. Its susposedly a good driver Delorean and whoever buys this one may be getting a good bargin!:race:

The paint looks nice... and shiny!

What is the extra fluid reservoir in the engine bay, left side?

Interesting routing of the coolant reservoir overflow tubing...

What are the controls/moulding/whatever under the right knee pad in the driver's footwell? Security system?

Looks like the driver's bolster is coming away or the rear interior panel got cut open instead of loosened with heat. Hard to tell as it can only be seen in one picture.

No deice/throttle spool recall kit. No trip reset plunger. Floor mats fit okay?

EDIT: no frame pictures or any from underneath...

Blinker fluid?

Paint does look too nice to strip off.

This car was on ebay back in 06, with 86k on it then, so about 1000 miles per year since then, which isn't too bad.

Haha, yes! I was curious if that was what it was. I have been considering doing the power blinker upgrade, but wanted to see a few examples before I went for it :)

1,000 miles per year (to me anyway) would be one of the single most important things you could learn about a car and it's history. It gives you a real good idea on the answers to a lot of other questions if you know this car is driven that much every year. Immensely better than the "sat for the last 5-10 years, but it ran okay before that" kind of car. Good of you to post that.

Both look like a case of driver's paying more attention to the attention they were getting than the cars directly in front of them on the freeway. Lots of stop and go traffic in LA - take your eyes off the car in front of you for a split second and you have a punched in nose...

I like how the guy says he could part it out and make thousands more. Really, all the good fenders are gone, and its not that easy to take it apart, catalogue it, store it, wait for a buyer. Just because he overpayed doesn't mean someone else has to.
