What kind of feedback are you looking for?

I had my originals powdercoated locally, and bought a set of DMCCA chrome rims from a good friend. Both sets are very nice.

Has anyone purchased wheels from available vendors or had their own refurbished? Looking for feedback...I had mine redone while at DPI. Dark gray going in, same exact dark gray going out, but much better than before. They used to be a bit pitted, and had lost most of their shine, but they look flawless now. Josh even sent one of the fronts back to the paint shop after he wasn't satisfied with the result, no additional charge. VERY satisfied with the work he's done :)

I sandblasted my rims, they were very corroded and had them powder coated black. I really enjoy the contrast.

Thank you, but I would have prefered the previous owner didn't go wild and scrapped both quarter panels to make ''air scoops'' as he described it (he never made the scoops anyway). Well, that's my problem now. :smile:

Finish the scoops, find someone who can work stainless into a shape that fits the lines of the car, and it might come out looking good.

I had mine done at the local sandblaster,powdercoating place.Asheville Paint.$95 per rim.I selected plain ol` silver as my color.Satin as the finish and the results were pretty drastic.Mine bubbled and were re-done at no additional charge.My rims were pretty pitted,so,the better you start with the better the end result.Steve6864.

So you had them powder coat and they bubbled, did they pre-baked them? By drastic do you mean you like out they turned out? So you recommend the satin finish because it matches the original color and you like how they look?

I found a powdercoat shop specialized in wheel refurbisment, just want to make sure I get them right.

I never seen another Delorean except mine so I can only rely on pictures.

They did pre-bake,but,moisture still escaped during powdercoating.Yes the results dramatic in a good way,I really like them and the finish is bright without being too shiny.Like I said though I started with wheels off a high mileage car with some significant pitting,so,your results could be spectacular.steve6864.

Are you planning on welding them back in or just covers? Polished would look pretty nice as an accent if your not welding them in.

Btw: Is that your Helicopter in Back ground? If so what kind?

It could look nice but I want original. In fact I have trouble getting over the fact that this panel was slaughtered like that.
Since finding a good used left hand quarter panel proved to be very difficult, I decided to buy a NOS panel. But because I am currently restoring the car it doesn't make sense to buy it right now. So, I sometime stay after work to give that panel another chance,I feel bad for it, why would someone want to cut big holes in that beauty, what a waste. I'm not pretending I can bring it back to life though but I think it's worth a shot.

The first helicopter (a frame on a rolling stand) is a Eurocopter Astar 350 B2 (Écureuil) being built. The one in the last picture is a Eurocopter EC-120 Colibri. Own by Canadian Helicopters (HNZ group) which is my employer.
