Painting over the Frame Epoxy

I've read all the threads and instructions for the POR-15 process. I bought all the material. I understand the metal painting process

My epoxy is really faded, even when i buff or sand it. What is the recommended procedure / prep for painting the recommended Rustoleum color over the Epoxy covered parts?

I'm redoing my engine cradle and front end, about 75% of the painting will be over epoxy, 25% over metal.

Before trying to apply paint to the epoxy you must rough it up by sanding it so any paint you apply to it will stick. Probably best to start with a primer first so you get good adhesion. The primer is also a good base to cover the bare metal. I would finish with several light top coats trying to feather the edges out.

I'm going to be doing some similar work on my car (a few spots where epoxy has chipped off and surface rust has formed). I'm going to go with the Rustoleum Smoke Grey (if I can find it), but I'm worried that it won't quite be a perfect match and am not experienced with blending painted surfaces. I'll be interested in this thread.
