Rear bearings question

I bought 2 new rear bearings from DMC.

The inner race can be pulled up a bit if I use my fingers (put them in, expand them and lift), I can raise it a few millimeters.. both side of the bearing and both bearings do the same thing.

Is this right?

Yes. But don't do that as you can damage the seal. Once the bearings are installed they are captured and pressed between the outer nut and the spindle.

Do some research before you pull it all apart - you will find that there are very specific steps to removing or replacing the bearing, and if you don't support the right race at the right time you will fling ball bearings all over your garage and/or ruin the new bearing.

I heated the rear hub carrier up in my oven and I put the bearings in the freezer, they literally dropped right in!

Someone on here gave me that idea.

I was kind of bummed when I saw the inner race moving I thought they were defective and I went through all that for nothing.
