Is there another otterstat that is interchangable with a Delorean one? i finally received my package from Hervey that I ordered last Wednesday, of course the otterstat is missing and i'm not waiting another week for one.

Thanks
Brian

After searching through all of the parts it turns out I am missing the o-rings as well, so I have to wait for an
other shipment. :(

If it were me and I was pressed for time... I'd look for a push-in radiator fan switch and seal from a 1983 Volvo 760. Same engine, so presumably same thermal trip. But only guesswork on my part. And at some point Volvo changed to a threaded switch. I'd only do it if I could walk into a store and put my fingers on the part. Getting the wrong one mail-order and then having to pay to get it shipped back would be more hassle than it's worth. Probably best just to wait for your next order. In my humble opinion.

The Volvo 760 crossover sure looks like the right part.

Wow, you're right! Not sure if our clip would hold it, though.

Of course, you could always use a zip-tie to hold it in... some people do that anyway as a back-up to the original clip.

I think you may be on to something there... if you can find it locally, it may be worth a shot!

Waiting only another week for a part Hervey forgot? You are optimistic, aren't you? He likely does not have them in stock.

Get the crossover part and give it a try. Can't hurt....

What about the o rings and gaskets for the intake?

Get everything from DMCMW - takes all of 2 days to get me my stuff and I'm over here in Dayton.

True enough. I thought you meant the seal for the otterstat when you said "o ring." If you need more than one part, then Dave & Julee are your source.

Famous last words about a part that determines whether or not the cooling fans activate...

;-)

Seriously though it will probably work fine. Honestly if you're buying from Hervey then you're probably already buying the Volvo cross over. I'm sure that's where he gets his; especially the ones that activate at different temperatures.

I did. I needed the otterstat and the intake o ring and gasket set. Is the 3.0 eagle premier engine the same?

Which gaskets? Timing cover? Valve cover? Not the same in either case, I think.

I thought the 3.0 eagle/monaco blocks were the same as the 2.8, only difference was the sleeve size.

Not sure. I've never seen a 3.0L up close. Someone else here should know this. Let's wait for them to pipe up. :)

Or you could give Dave a call...

I justwant to get this water pump on and the engine back together. I have had the car since early Dec and between the weather and the interior being in shambles when I got it, I just want to drive it already.

I have specialtauto's water pump kit #1. The only parts that he forgot to give me are the INTAKE MANIFOLD O-rings, Y-PIPE O-rings, and 2 small paper gaskets. Oh, and the otterstat. I'd like to change that out before I filled the coolant.

If that is all you need, order it from DMCMW. You'll have your stuff by Thursday (more than likely), and you can get the engine back together. You sure you don't also need the O-ring that goes in the very middle of the intake manifold where the cold start valve pipe sits on top of ? Just making sure you're covered!

Not to sound like a jerk, but this weather (Dec to early March) is definitely NOT what I'd be wanting to drive my DeLorean in. To a certain extent, you should look at this timing as a real blessing - doing all this work while the weather sucks. If this was late April/early May and you were at this point, yes, I sure would agree with you. But days when the high is 23, yeah, I'd be WAY happier to be in (and actually am currently in) your position.

Just politely trying to make verbal lemonade out of lemons (:.
