MY Delo was built in June 81 according to Vin Plate, On my Engine drivers side just above the exhaust manifold on the far left side of block is cast 25-06-81 then a few inches away a bunch of other numbers. Is this set of numbers the engind casting or build date? If so I can pretty much narrow down the Vehicle build date to the last week in June 1981. Is there any way to know the exact daye of build for the car instead of just a month?
Thanks

The other set of numbers should be the engine number. So what is the number, for the record book of course? And the frame number?

Glen, these numbers do not tie together in any way shape or form. The only numbers that will match are your ash vin plate and door jam plate.
Frame vins can be off by thousands constantly.

Uggh, so this isnt a date stamp at all?? sure looks like one.. I will have to post the engine plate and frame numbers as requested. Wish there was a way to narrow down build date to actual or estimated.

Typically the engine # and the vin # have some some things in common but not on a Delorean. Same with the transmission. DMCH has a small file for some frame #'s to vin #'s but that is it. The factory may have created some kind of record but even if they did it doesn't exist anymore. As Josh points out, the only things that will mesh are the dash vin plate, the door vin plate, and maybe some writing under the door headliners.

Check under your panels. There may be a date written somewhere which could possible be the build date. I would say that would be your best bet for build day. Under your fenders, quarter panels, doors..

At best, the number you indicate would be a cast date. But as the engines were built in France from presumably pre-cast blocks, the logistics would preclude a block cast on 6/25 being assembled, tested, shipped and put in a car in <5 days.
Most likely a Renault internal part number for the block.
As said above, under your headliner you may find some dated scribbling a that might tie it down better.
