So I yesterday I left work with half a tank.
A few miles later the gauge was right above empty, that can be somewhat normal for the Houston replacement #1.
But I wasn't accelerating nor did the needle move at all when I came to a stop.
So I will be checking the ground, and the sender itself first.
My question is has anyone else had their sender or gauge suddenly do this?

If it is the original sender they are notorious for failing. Some have been successful at repairing them but they do not last. Your best bet is to get one of the newer replacements from your favorite Delorean vender.

It's not original. It is the first replacement that Houston made.
I just find it weird that it would just suddenly stop working.

Motorweek did a segment last weekend on how high-sulphur gasolines are causing the floats on fuel senders to develop deposits & seize. You might want to pull the sender & see if this is the case. Apparently there are specific cleaners just for this problem.

When I purchased my car it left DMCF with a working fuel sender and when it arrived off the transport the sender was not working. From my case I'd say they're fragile. I believe my car had the Hervey unit.

I know Hervey has a new fuel sender unit that came out a few months ago. Is that the one you're talking about?

Well it must have been the connector at the unit itself.
I disconnected it and connected it back still nothing.
I pulled it apart and sprayed it with some electric connection cleaner.
Now its working again, just kinda weird for it to completely go dead.

It would have been an earlier unit.
