Just wondering if you need a column because the GM collapsable part broke? This happened to me, so I pushed the two sections together and rewelded them. Wrapped duct tape around it so it wouldn't snag wires. Been fine for 15 years or so.
Might be kind of rednecky but I don't think I compromised the safety aspect too much.

This is the case with my column as well. I will be trying the welding route very soon.

I have one, not sure what I want for it. Do you want just the column or the ignition switch and horn and flicker wiring as well?

I dont need the electrics, just the haft and housing as shown above with good splines too. Houston wants $260 for a NOS one, Im looking for one about half that price.

DO we know if this part is on any other cars? Mine had broken, had it welded, and it has come apart once again. Its a crappy design.

What exactly the weak part is?

How difficult was it to weld? By the time I take mine out.....I just may want to put a new one in instead. It depends on how much of a pain welding is.

When my steering wheel got real wobbly I thought it was the bushing. Looking under the dash I saw the collapsable part of the column in two pieces. Not wanting to do more work than needed, I loosened the adjustment from the dash and lowered the shaft to the seat. Pushed the pieces together and welded it. I didn't try to weld it like it was. Imagine like putting your finger tips together, but rather letting your fingers interlock. Hard to explain, but I thought it gave better support to the weld. I think it was a General Motors sourced part, should be a lot of cross references.

I've got one sitting here out of 891 but it's not the best looking example. Shoot me your e-mail in a PM and I'll send you pics.

Thanks Paul....kinda sounds like what I had in mind to do. I will give it a try.....if it becomes to tedius, I'll just replace it with new.
