Need some adjustment help

I just finished putting in my refurbished air induction system that I got back from DPI (I was very happy with the results). I also installed a new/rebuilt distributor to go with it. I put in all new seals and triple checked all the vacuum hoses and that everything was properly back together. I even made sure to install a new fuel filter and flush the fuel line before I reattached the gas in line. On initial start up the idle is very high (around 1500 rpm). I know it needs adjustment with the 3mm Allen but will that adjustment lower my idle?

I did check the screw on the micro switch plate, and it is backed up so much that it is not even touching and the top screw is fully engaging the micro switch. I did plug the hole for when I was starting it, but now not sure what to do to lower the idle. Thanks for you help.

fixed the idle. Forgot to readjust the throttle control arm and had to make it a bit shorter. Now it is going into a proper idle and it is giving me black smoke now. So when I get my 3mm allen I will lean it up. Should there be anything else I should be looking for since it was running for a while so rich?

Check the spark plug tips for soot build-up.

Check the O2 (Lambda) sensor - same thing, soot build up.

When I got it to idle, it was very rich. I started to turn the adjustment screw left/counter clock wise trying to lean it out. I adjusted the screw lean until it wanted to die and then bumped it up a little but its still to rich. Was getting a hot red glowing cat. So will I be able to adjust the screw until the black smoke stops or will I need to drive it a bit to clear that out?

A hot, glowing red cat means you are dumping WAY too much fuel into it. Try turning the screw the other way. You do not adjust the mixture screw like that on this car. You do not turn it like an idle mixture screw in a carburetor. Look up the threads on how to adjust the mixture screw.

I remember talking about the other components you were installing as well John. I would recommend pulling all six injectors and flow testing the distributor/injectors to make sure everything is correct. I can email you over the full fuel system test procedure we use later today if you would like.
