My fan speed switch is acting weird. At 0 the blower motor is on low. At 123&4, the blow motor does nothing. When it is on 0 I have to apply pressure to the switch in a certain direction, then it turns on. Bad switch?

Take it apart and enjoy the view of melted plastic.

It was working fine yesterday. What would cause it to melt?

I opened the switch and it didn't look melted. It was all sticky/greasy inside though. I checked the switch with a voltmeter and only the top (hot) checked out. All the other modes I turned the switch to had nothing. I jumped the plug to the switch and all modes/speeds checked out. So bad switch?

Try removing all that old grease with solvent. Then apply (lightly) some new grease.
