Striker pin grommets - how to install?

I bought 4 of these https://store.delorean.com/p-9335-striker-pin-grommet.aspx on my last order, hoping they would hide my chipped and ugly striker pin washers. But now that I have them, I really don't know how they are supposed to install. Glue? Am I missing some piece of hardware that's supposed to hold them in place?

I could never get mine to stick. So they are in a box. I will be monitoring this thread.

I've been figuring silicone glue whenever I get around to fitting mine...

How funny, I tried to glue mine (one) today and I was going to post this exact question. Not a lot for the grommet to hold on to. Mine did not stick, I will try again tomorrow

I bought those as well, you have to glue them. I have made 3 attempts to glue them, even with epoxy, and it does not stick.
The first one was knocked off by the door itself, the other ones were comming off by themselves, so I removed them.

If you really want it, I think there is only one way to do this.
Mark the edges of where you want those things to go. Take a dremel and sand the surface. Use glue for rubber. It is the type you have to apply on both sides and let dry for a few minutes and then apply.

I used that black windshield adhesive on my grommets, same stuff that the outer door seals were stuck on with. Still holding fine almost a year later!

Used the black 3M and they haven't come off, plus the black isn't noticeable if you get excess.

That is the right answer, but if the doors are out of alignment they can "wipe" the grommets off and even jam the door.

If there are washers under the anchor pin the door should not force the grommet off. I have seen cars where the heads of the screws holding the latch in the door have worn grooves into the plastic on the door jamb. In that case the grommets will not stay in place. Just a couple of small drops of 3M weatherstripping is all you should need. One day you might have to remove the grommets to adjust the anchor pins.

Wow, it's funny how many people have the same part in their to-do boxes. I didn't realize it was a glue-on part so I'm going to have to wait anyway, I'm still tinkering with my striker pins like David T mentioned.

I have also used super glue, hold in place for 45 seconds and you're done.

First clean the surfaces with solvent or brake claner.

I use glue like Pattex or Uhu Kraft.

Apply it on both surfaces and wait 5-10 minutes.

Then - press it on. Done.

I have some in my parts box that I haven't installed yet either.

My drivers door is our of shape - There's like 5 spacer wahsers on the front striker pin and one on the rear. And, the rear striker had to have the tip ground off to clear the door.

I don't think I'll be installing the gromets anytime soon.
