Double-Din Face-plate Bracket Radio Frame

Hi all,

I'm trying to get this project going!

As I mentioned I will need 30 people to do this. Every 10 people I get, I will start making the parts.

Once I get the first 10 people, I will place an order for the A/C panel and A/C decal and so on with the next 10 people.

PLEASE READ:
This is a very big project and expensive, a lot of money will be invested in building these parts and ordering shipping supplies. There will be a No Refund unless the project does not go forward at all. If you have to cancel for whatever reason you would have to find someone else to buy your place. If I don't have 10 people within a month or so, then I will cancel it and refund all people!

The faster everyone places an order, the sooner everyone will get them. Hopefully it can be done before the summer!!

The prototype frame with radio brackets and A/C panel came out good. They just need to be adjusted a tad, very simple.

Knight Rider (1982 Trans Am) Shifter knob replica! I made a replica, fully functional knob, from the one used in the show and only found in the 1982 Trans Am. First the knob handle was powder coated in Black texture as you can see the first 2 customer pictures. Now they are Anodized in Matte Black as you can see from the first picture and last 2.

What if the chain breaks between person number 11 and person number 29? Will you still refund the money to those who had already paid?

Maybe you should not start until you have all 30 people you need.

Hmm I am interested but have alot of mechanical work to do first. If I see this gaining momentum I might just have to get myself a kit. That would be great if you keep the thread updated with how many units are paid for!

1. Price is $250 for those that buy in advance as stated above. The ones that don't buy in advance it will be $280. The $230 was a mistake, meant to write $280.

Once I have enough people and start ordering parts for the Double-din frame kit, I will start on the custom shifter plate.

I find it hard to commit to the DIN plate if the message board plate is not ready. Where are the lights going to go?

I think this is a fantastic panel you've designed, but this is a pretty high up-front cost you're asking. I understand ramping up the tooling for this kind of thing isn't cheap, but this panel is going to cost as much as some of the 2-DIN stereos it's meant to support! Have you considered reaching out to DMCH to see if they would be willing to finance the initial run of 10 panels to sell and gauge demand? You might have better luck selling to/through them than on just this forum.

I totally understand where you're coming from; first-run and tooling is expensive. That's why I wonder if asking DMCH wouldn't be a bad idea. They might just be interested in carrying them, since you've already done all the R&D.

Nobody said you have to give them an exclusive license ;) I'm just suggesting if they want to carry your product, they might be able to provide the up-front money you need to justify the first run.

I just came across this....

I am interested but have the same concerns as others. But I applaud you for the work and willingness to take on a project like this. However my car is on my shit list as of late as the maintenance and wear is starting to pile up.
