I had a similiar issue. I cleaned up the boards and soldered the sockets to the copper traces. Might be a good alternative if no one has them, and you don't want These Ones (http://store.delorean.com/p-6917-circuit-board.aspx).

Interesting as i was about to order those. Any more details why i DONT want the ones from the dealer? I'll pull my boards and solder the connectors. If i wiggle the bulb just barely i can get them all to work.

Also, I just picked up my first delorean on tuesday. Drove it 700 miles home NO PROBLEM :) I'm already in love Vin #10588

There's your clue right there. There is a standard fix for these board to install some tiny nuts and bolts to tighten the sockets down and/or solder the connections. Over 30 years, they tend to work loose.

I just used scotch bright pads from walmart. Took a little while, but I think it came out good. Here's a before and after:

I have a set on Ebay currently, there's only a few hours left on them though. If you're interested do an advanced search by item number and punch in 300890530217; only asking $30 because I've never tested them out.

I soldered the boards, and got all my lights working. I'd still like to know why the replacement boards from DMC are no good to get, it seems that brand new ones would be a fantastic thing.

I don't think they are "brand new".

FYI, many of DMCH's items are NOS (New Old Stock), i.e. unused items that are 32 years old. Often that doesn't make a difference and many times that is desireable. Many items are "improved".

If you want some really nice boards call up PJ Grady. His boards are expensive but brand new. They are not old stock like what you would get from delorean.com

Yes and no. A lot of it depends on the part. 30 years of wear and tear vs. 30 years of sitting on the shelf can be very different.

I beleive he is refering to the fact the improved parts are new and the NOS is 30 years old but also new. For example a NOS accumulator would be close to useless, even though it has never been used. To relate that back to the taillights I would be nice to have a modern replacement to replace the old school boards. If mine ever need replacing I am going to get creative.

I have to agree. At least in the case of tail light boards, I dont like the design of the original boards. It's the fact that all of the connections are just rivets. 30 years ago when they were brand new it probably wasn't to bad, but now that every board is 30 years old, they're all oxidizing and corroding a little, whether they're on a car or in a warehouse.

That being said, unless the board itself is cracked or broken, I believe the best option is still just to add solder to every connection.

That is on my list for this winter. I'm going to remove all the rivets, clean under them, tin the sockets (because they need to get pretty hot for solder to flow), re-rivet them, then solder over the whole mess in a nice pretty way :)

I'm almost positive Grady doesn't sell them anymore.

They might still be listed in the catalog but to my knowledge one of the last manufacturing runs was a while back.

I spoke to Grady last year. He doesn't have any more and there are no plans to do another production run. That doesn't mean he will never have them again. But for now and for the foreseeable future he doesn't.
