Stainless Steel 1960 Ford Thunderbird

18371 Found this one off built [by Alcoa] 1960 T-Bird built in 1960 by Ford for a Promo vehicle for the Stainless Company. The Car is on Display at the Hershey auto Museum in Hershey Pa. Also a Stainless 1969 Lincoln Continental there also

That's a 1960 bird.

There's also the Lincoln and the Ford, and Porsche made one for themselves years ago.

Dual purpose one-off car:

1. Test the viability of Stainless Steel as a body construction material for vehicles.

2. Easy way to destroy the body panel dies. SS is much less malleable than regular carbon steel, so after a few stampings of stainless the dies will permanently deform. Quicker than a hammer or saw.

18375 Heres the pic of the Lincoln. I believe it was a 1967.Whatever the Final year a Converible was made Has extremely low miles on it.
