Martins springs installed, and new brakes- Works great Pics inside!

Finally got around to doing this, they work great! OE Girling shocks, in good shape, Martins springs. Handling, as well as viewing angle is greatly improved. Some pics here -

Thanks for the compliments, I do really like the new stance and handing. The girling shocks (provided that they are still in good shape) seem to make a nice combination with these springs. They are nice and firm but not excessively so. The car feels appropriately firm.

The ride is sporty, the car feels more confident in corners, and on fast crests where normally the car would get light and nearly have the front end come off the road, it maintains composure and stays "grounded"

All in all, the handling has been greatly improved, confidence "feel" is improved and the dynamics are as they should have been in the first place. Also, I can see out of the thing :lol: The windshield angle is now such that you can see out of the car when coming over a hill fast, which was one of the most concerning aspects when driving the car as Chapman / DeLorean intended.

Anyone with the standard springs that actually drives their car, do this mod.

In the first 2 pics, the angle of the sway bar is most telling of the change in geometry change! Quite a bit. Do you have an actual measurement of the height change for your car?

BTW how is the ride with the new springs?? Not too stiff like the eibach ones??

The ride seems to me to be almost exactly the same, no noticeable change between these springs and the original equipment. There is now a good amount more suspension travel from the normal ride height until you hit "full droop" or "topped out" - which is the point where the wheels leave the road. also, I ran it pretty good today and so far I have not bottomed it out either - I think it will take quite a bit to get there.

I think the way it sits now is correct. Normal suspension height I'm pretty sure is now sitting right between full droop and bottom, which should be the dynamic of any car on the road if it is done right.

Arre you going to stick the old front springs and replace the back ones? Then it should drop the rear to match the front. That's what I had read that some have done to their Ds.

I am sure this will vary with every car:

Stock springs - The measurement, from floor to bottom of wheel well is about 25.25 inches. Top of rocker (between the fender panel and rocker) measured about 12.5 in the back, 13 in the front. Yes, the front was actually sitting above level.

Martin springs - Floor to wheel well is about 23.5 inches, initially. It has since settled to about 23 inches, so roughly 2.25 inches total drop if measured at the wheel well. The rocker now measures about 12.5 in the back, 11.5 in the front.

Are you sure Martin's springs only drop 2 inches?? Seams like more from the pictures.

Put some miles on these now, and I think I could use some spring spacers. Ride is good, height is about 1/2" too low - IMO. On my inner fender trim strips, I am getting some signs of rubbing. I think this is likely only happening under hard cornering, wheel loaded, wheel cracked more than about 10 degrees...

I too have Martin's front springs with Girling shocks. It was like that when I bought it so I don't know how the stock setup feels. Anyway, I really like the stance, but one of my car buddies insists he thinks the back should be lowered to match the front. I dunno about that, though.

For the price (shipped!) these are a screaming deal for what they accomplish aesthetically and practically.
