I am having trouble getting my fuel mixture set correctly and the car is currently not drivable. I put on a new fuel distributor and had the throttle housing all refinished and rebuilt. I have tried adjusting my mixture per the Allen wrench but I am just missing something, I can not seem to get it correct. It just seems to rich. After messing with it for about two weeks, it will start and idle okay but when I start driving it seems to be flooding out and causing incomplete detonation. It stumbles and the plugs are very black. I thought I was not getting function out of the FV but I had it tested and I had my Idle motor tested and both were good. I cleaned all connections. I unplugged and cleaned all the colorful plugs on the passenger side of the engine bay. I plugged and unplugged the silver box behind the drivers seat several times and nothing has changed. I can't hear the FV, and I can not feel it vibrating. I have a new O2 sensor to go in it, but I am still using my old one. I am sure the old one is no good but wanted to get it close before I installed the new one. I did not think a bad O2 would stop the FV. But I am out of ideas and not sure what to try next. So if anyone with more experience from the Atlanta area could drive down and help, I would totally pay gas and beer for your time.

Hey man. I'm not nearby but try reading over my post here. I had a similar issue where I knew my mixture was set right but things were still running for crap. Ended up being a marginal connection to the FV inside the pontoon that would carry voltage but no current, a misleading and tough to diagnose situation for sure.

Good luck....

I've seen two cars where the mixture would just not hold (30 seconds it would change). Both were caused by a plugged CAT.

If the frequency valve isn't turning on at all, it could be a bad or improper relay in the Lambda relay socket (it does NOT use a typical relay).
Reference these two diagrams, (mostly the second - LAMBDA Circuit)...

Use these to follow basic electrical troubleshooting.
Once you get that working fine, you'll need to set your initial mixture to get it almost-right. To do this, you want to "crack" the injectors...
http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?4995-CO-screw-starting-point&highlight=cracking+injectors
Pull out all of the injectors and place them in glass jars. Jump the fuel pump to run continuously. Now, turn the screw clockwise until they start spraying fuel. Finally, back it off CCW until they just barely stop spraying. Ideally if the injectors are in good shape none will be dripping at this time either.
I'm a little far to just hop on down to help. So I hope this helps you.

If you find the Lambda relay to be faulty, go to the auto parts store and ask for a "dual make" relay. (It has two #87 output pins instead of one. They could both be labeled 87, or they could be labeled 87 and 87b.) I'm also too far away to help in person, but I thought I'd add what I know. Good luck!
