fuel accumulator removal

I am trying to remove the fuel accumulator. The nut that goes on the accumulator from the hard fuel line is giving me a real hassle! I modified a wrench to fit in there but the nut wont budge....can't seem to get enough leverage on it. The area is corrosion free, so I don't think that's the problem...just hard to get good leverage and the nut is TIGHT! Any ideas?
Also, the original nut seems to be a 17mm, but the nut on the accumulator I got from Hervey is 11/16.......anyone else experience this? wondering if everything will thread together properly once I get the new accumulator in there?

What I did was drop the accumulator before I removed the hoses. Then I could put an air impact with a crows foot on it. You may get more room to use a wrench that way.

To drop the accumulator out of the frame you MUST undo the hard line first. It can be very tight. You must use whatever leverage you have to all the while "backing up" the line so you do NOT twist the hard line.

I don't know if every car has this, or if so, whether everyone is aware that they do. But if you remove the center console, there is an access panel through the body tub that helps you reach the more difficult accumulator connections.

You talking underneath the coin tray - NOT the ashtray?

For the removal of the accumulator, I'd soak those connectors in penetrant spray for a good day or two. Then, I would get the car on a lift and "scissor break" the connector loose with two wrenches.

Remember, John over at SpecialTAuto DOES have a stainless braided fuel line now that goes from the accumulator to the fuel filter if you happen to break the line, and it does NOT require body/frame separation. As soon as I saw it existed, I bought one just in case.
