View Full Version : Heat & A/C A/C Bracket Measurements - Need To Make One

Can anyone give me fairly accurate measurements of the A/C Bracket (http://store.delorean.com/p-7736-pulley-mounting-brkt.aspx)? It appears this part is not currently available, but if someone can give me measurements (or take pictures of it sitting on a sheet of graph paper?), I can hopefully bend up something relatively close at work. It would be really nice to have the A/C working before the Indy event :)

Before you start fabricating, I believe Josh Bengston at DeLorean Performance Industries has these (in stainless steel), so you might want to give him a call.

I have plenty of powder coated ones in stock ready to go. Saw your post on the other thread about frame options. SW does not have the finalized stainless frame ready for us yet. We do have plenty of refurbished stock units available though.

I work for a company that makes stainless steel processing equipment. If I have dimensions, I can make my own out of stainless for pretty much free :)

I'm not actually in the market (yet), althought I have no inspected my frame very thoroughly. I was mostly just curious because it would be very cool to have and I was wondering if building my own would be worth the trouble. It would be a very cool project.

Ps. Above post was about the bracket, not the frame. Unfortunately I can't get that much SS for free ;)

It is an R&D money pit to say the least.... Wait... Sorry. Everything Delorean related is a money pit. No exceptions!

To me, this is part of the value in buying it from someone like Josh. The research and development isn't free and giving away portions of your products won't pay the bills. I'm not saying there isn't an absolute ton of free advice and help online here, but there are some folks on here whose livelihood depends on selling things.

If you work for a stainless manufacturing type company, great, you very well could make it for far less than most other owners. And while this isn't exactly the same, the comment someone made from a while back that went something like "what is the crossover part number and where is the cheapest place to get it?" isn't doing any favors to the vendors who are on here lending their time and help.

As a general rule of thumb, if there is not a remarkable difference in cost, I would always get DeLorean related items from a vendor. And if only because the kid at Canadian Tire getting you your spark plug crossover or replacement fuel system components isn't going to be helping to design replacement head light switches, or whatever it is that may run out next.

Just my 2 cents. We all get to choose on our own. This is just how I happen to approach things.

I agree with you, putting the money towards someone who will develop future components is important. DMCMW will have about $1000 from me for random little odds and ends by mid May. But as you said, there IS a remarkable price difference between me making one for free, and the DPI one ($95 according to old posts, part not listed on the website currently). Plus sometimes it's just cool to make your own parts when possible :)

Does anyone at least have a pictures of how the A/C system goes together? The DMC page (http://store.delorean.com/c-364-7-2-1-pulleysdrive-belts.aspx) is a little confusing (I don't think I have a single numbered part shown :() and Google is failing me.

Its, complicated. And if I recall correctly the manual doesn't quite show it right. If nobody else gets a good photo first I should have one for you tonight or tomorrow.

That would be awesome, thanks. I'm trying to compile a list of everything I'm missing so that I can pick it up from Dave/Julee at the Indy event. Only 10 days!

I never clicked on the link to the dmch page initially...... I thought that you were asking for the aluminum brackets that hold the compressor. Hence the powder coat comment early. I literally have hundreds of the brackets you are asking about in stock. If you want to make this yourself I can give you the dxf file. due to the tight v bend on the bracket center line I know special tooling was required for this.

Josh, a dxf file would be amazing! I've got an entire industrial shop full of special tooling about 30 feet away from my desk, plus a laser cutting and forming shop that I sure owes us a favor or two by now, but I'd still rather do it myself.
