I read somewhere about removing the red resistor pack (closest to the passenger bulkhead) and removing a green white wire from the backside to allow the lights to turn off, and only illuminate when the head lights are on. I pulled the red resistor pack, and without dismantling the relay block, I couldnt see a way to get to that wire. Can I remove the red resistor pack? it seems to only have two connectors, wouldnt just removing the resistor pack do the same as removing one of the wires? leaving an open circuit?

Thank you! again, you're all awesome! *bows*

EDIT: ok removing the red resistor pack does nothing for a constant on. Its still on ;)

Dave at DMCMW told me how to do this easily by snapping off one of the pins on the relay. That's it. It does exactly what you are describing. I just don't recall which pin! Be sure to mark the relay so the altered one doesn't get mixed up in the future.

All the details you need are here: http://www.dmcnews.com/Techsection/acpanellites.htm and here http://www.deloreanproject.com/A_C_Panel_Lighting_Update_Options/index.html

Don't break the relay, you might want it again in the future. A simple jumper wire is all that's needed.

The downside to modifying the relay is that it is no longer interchangeable with the others that look the same. If you do this paint the relay a different color.

Use the jumper. Why have a relay drawing 50 ma. when you can get rid of it.

Accomplished without changing the relay. The photos in the second link are incorrect, but the text instructions on the first link worked perfectly. Made a little jumper wire. Super sweet :)

New A/C Sticker on its way (mine is BEYOND tired) along with an entire new cooling system, and a whole bunch of other goodies. mmm!

Thank you again!
