Impact Absorber Bars

Was wondering what is the way way to paint those?

The black stuff on it just peels/chips off. The bars them selves are in good shape, just wondering if there is some type of spray I can use on them. A silicone rubber spray or something, Plasti Dip spray??

Just wondering if anyone had done this yet? I have my rear bumper off while I'm doing a rebuild and I was trying to figure out what to put on this to keep it from degrading on further?

I'm guessing the plastidip is working. I brushed it on and then put the fascia on a couple of days later. I haven't had a reason to take them back off so I'm not sure of the condition. The plastidip seemed to work well to hold the edges from flaking further.

I used some rubberized rocker guard. I would used plastidip, but it is $20 a can in Canada. The rocker guard is rubberized so it had some flex to it, plus it was sitting on my shelf.

This is what i started with

I first removed the foam. I took this opportunity to weld nuts on the rock shield brackets as 3 of the 5 were missing.

Then removed the original coating with a heat gun and patience. Took about 30 mins.

Then I sanded it down and blew it off with compressed air. Finally I gave it a thick coat of rocker guard. Substitute this for plastidip. Here is the final result:

Thanks guys! I'm going to see if I can find either of those products nearby.

That's a great before/after Josh, that Rocker Guard really worked well.

I have a feeling the rear absorber will be exposed for a little while, so I wanted to prevent it from degrading much more before it's too late.
