Tie Rod Boots

Has anyone replaced these before? I was doing my brake system rebuild and noticed these boots were completely gone on the tie rod ends. DMCH part # is 105257.

My goal is to replace the boots without having to realign the front end. Is that possible?

Why do you set out with one task and uncover 5 others in the process?? Oh the joy of working on old cars.

specialtauto sells just the boots. you can just undo the nut off the tie rod, disconnect tie rod from spindle and put the new boot on the tie rod end still in the car. you wont have to get it aligned.

What kind of grease did you put in it?

any grease that you use on your ball joints or angle drive. wheel bearing grease works just fine. not really load bearing part like ball joints are, just use it as a lubricant. make sure there is no play in the tie rod end, just lift the front of the car up and shake tires left and right, someone can look at tie rod ends and see if there is play in them, if there is just replace them.
