You'd most likely have the best luck visiting a custom exhaust shop. It would probably cost you like $100 to have one made and installed.

If you can find a shop that doesn't care so much about federal laws against such things.

True. I guess it depends on what State you're in. In Ontario, the car, being so old, doesn't require emissions testing, so it apparently doesn't matter.

In some (all?) US states it is still an offense to remove a cat even if emissions testing is not required irrespective if the age of the car.

It's a federal offense. Regardless of state or local emission testing/inspection or age of the car.

No, it's not likely you will get caught doing it yourself in a non-inspection region, but there are not many shops willing to risk it. All it takes is one ticked off customer. . . . . .

Illegal anywhere in USA. It is illegal to have them, sell them, advertise them etc

Adding the statement "FOR OFF ROAD USE ONLY" doesn't make them less illegal.

Not even, by law if you own a shop and a customer brings a vehicle with altered or modified exhaust system, you can not touch it ,(exhaust system) unless you bring it back to stock. You can work on other part of the vehicle as long as you don't need to touch the exhaust system.

Wow, those rules are strict. If I read it correctly, you can't even take a cat equipped single exhaust and upgrade to dual exhaust with cats bc it is considered "tampering". So much for clean air, I live in NASCAR country and go to a local short track nearly every weekend. No cats on those cars!

If the vehicle was manufactured for highway use, you can not change that but, if you build a race car from scrap (custom frame etc), then you can call that vehicle a off road vehicle, as long as you don't include a cat when first built, you are OK.
