I have the FMU off and was thinking of doing what Alex did and take it apart and repaint it like in this thread http://delorean6575revisited.blogspot.com/2012/09/reconditioning-valve-covers-intake.html
Is there a thread to take it apart and if not is it hard to do? Any info would be great, thanks.

Best advice is to not disassemble it. If all you want to do is paint it, just mask it off. Try to use a paint that is at least fuel resistant. Do not get any paint where the copper sealing washers have to go.
