I don't usually drive in the rain but I took my wife to the mall. It has just started raining and I turned the wipers on. The drivers doesn't move. Is there something stripped? I'm still at the mall

Any ideas

Check the transmission junction under the dash. You should see it moving when they're on. I bet a pin fell out. If they were stripped I would expect to see some movement.

Sure, most likely the wiper arm has come loose on the Shaft. I've seen it before on other cars. Turn wipers On and watch the nut on the arm. I'll bet it moves back and forth. You just need to tighten down again. also make sure there is a lock washer under the nut.

+1 this happened on my DD once, that'd be the first thing id check.

One thing...don't use them if at all possible. Depending on what is wrong, the arms on most any car can flop the right way and it tears all kinds of things up...over a relatively simple fix.

Mine started to slip earlier this year. You need to remove the wiper arm, and with a razor blade or fine pick, carefully clean out the super fine splines on the wiper shaft. The wiper arm is a much softer metal than the hardened shafts with splines, you need to make sure all the splines are clean of the softer metal and then you can reinstall and tighten the wiper arm. Tighten it fairly well, but it is just an M8 bolt so nothing over 20ft lbs or so, the clean sharp tapered splines will cut new grooves in the wiper arm to lock it in place. Make sure its at the right angle you want before you tighten, you dont want the wiper to go off the glass high or low.

How about a drop of Loctite on the shaft?
