I had just very recently purchased my dream car and had it delivered. It's painted black while washing it some of the paint chipped off about the size of a half-dollar their is some kind of brown looking primer beneath. What would be the best approach to fixing this

Where did you find the Black Delorean? Did you get it from DMCMW?

If the damage is small enough, try touch up paint. Otherwise you might get involved with a costly repaint that could be a few thousand to do the entire car. I like Black D's they look the best of all the painted ones......Good luck with your car.

A lot of times, when the cars were going to be painted they would put a thin layer of body filler type material on over the stainless to help the paint adhere better. Thats my guess about the brown stuff.

Depending on how the paint job was done you may have other areas where the paint does not adhere well. Be gentile with the paint job. S/S does not take paint well without proper prep. If you do a spot repair you must consider doing a proper prep so the repair will stick. Since it is black you should be able to get some touch up paint easily. Try a model supply and get a small bottle of Testor's paint. Might have to sand and feather the edges to get a nice looking repair.
