I'm in Wonder Lake IL for the weekend, about 20 minutes from DMCMW. I traded a couple of e-mails with Dave Swingle at DMCMW letting him know I was going to be in the area. He encouraged me to drop by.

My wife and I were with Dave and Julie for a couple of hours yesterday. They made us feel very welcome, even as current non-owners. Dave showed us around the whole shop. He showed us a number of cars currently being worked on and described what was being done. He fired up a recent stage 2 conversion that was just completed. I though it sounded great. Dave gave me a lot of good information about potentially being an owner and helped me understand what they could do for me during the purchase process and after to make sure I end up with a car I can enjoy.

Perhaps the most impressive thing, to me, was how he spoke about local owners. Dave said very nice things about some of the people I've already met around the Twin Cities. I mentioned I'd looked at a car I was very interested in but it wasn't the right time for me to buy. I remembered the VIN but not the owner's name. They were able to recall who the owner was without looking up the VIN. They definitely are in tune with who their customers are.

It was a great experience for me. I just wanted to thank Dave and Julie for the hospitality, the great information, and the whole experience.

They have been one of the best parts of my ownership experience. Not to say it would be horrible without them, but they have been done the following over the last three years in my specific case:
-Seen me without appointment as I was passing through while bringing my car home. I should note this was the Wednesday just before DCS Gettysburg, while they were preparing to go there.
-Remembered me every time I've called on the phone
-Asked about different issues I've mentioned previously
-Advised me NOT to purchase parts on occasion; either suggesting something else which will solve the problem, or that the part I want to replace is still fine (a low fail part).
-They've never steered me wrong. Ever.
-They quickly and easily process my orders...internationally.
-Recently helped a future owner (from out of province) ship parts to my usual delivery address (which is not my home address) for their future car. They had it up onscreen before he could tell them what it was.

They have always done this with a degree of cheer in their voices. they enjoy what they do!

Actions speak louder than words, and their continued presence here says more than enough about their dedication to us and our cars. They're constantly offering advice and suggestions, for free, with no obligation. And Dave has a great, dry, sense of humour.

I cannot say enough good about these people and the service they provide.

Dave and Julee are the best that I've done business with, all the way to customer service to getting my parts orders correct and parts usually come to the house pretty quick, dave came to a tech meet last year and helped alot of us out. Ill continue to do my business with them!

Ditto. I started doing business with DMCMW after placing my first order with Warren at DMCH and got talked down to like I was a 10 year old being scolded by his dad. Cancelled that order right then and there and never called again. I called DMCMW with my order and never looked back.

Dave is straight up honest with you and has always taken time to help me with any problem I may have. Julee(the one who usually answers the phone) is just a sweetheart. I always try to remember that I'm not the only D owner and not take a lot of Dave's(or Julee's) time if I ever have a problem, but he has never brushed me off or rushed me off the phone. If they are busy, they will call you back...Dave is usually on the board here to help as well.

Yup. Though my parts and majority of technical advice come from Toby & John @ DMCNW (can't speak enough good of them btw!) Dave has always been outstanding for online help, even on weekends and holidays when vendors are "closed."

Dave did a phenomenal job fixing my transmission after it exploded, and also provided great advice for when I reverted to K-Jet after my failed EFI conversion.

Dave and Julie are awesome. I am about 4 hours away from DMCH and about 18 hours away from DMCMW. I choose to do business with DMCMW instead of Houston because of how good they treat me, how fast they get parts out the door, and because Dave is always on DMCTalk giving out all sorts of free advice. Plus Dave has never talked down to me about my carb conversion. I love doing business with them.

+1 for Dave and Julee. I've considered them good friends ever since Dave was one of the first to give me good advice on my car when I first got it over a decade ago, then the two of them put me up for a night in their home on the way to Pheasant Run! Actually I think I stayed there twice!

First class friends and my favorite place to do business with.

Through all of my research on these cars and looking for one to call my own someday, Dave has been here to help explain things, lend advice and even suggest cars that may or may not be what I am looking for. It was only recently that I have gotten to talk to Julee and I must say the service at DMCMW has been nothing but superb! I ordered something from them and it arrived, in Canada, the next day BEFORE 3pm! Amazing! I can't say anything but great things about them and will continue to go to them when I do get a Delorean.

Dave once went 2 hours out of his way to drop by a tech session of ours and looked at issues in all of our cars. When contacting them, they've always been impressively speedy and courteous in getting back to me with information. I'm sending my car to them next weekend to have a bunch of work done, I don't think I'd feel more comfortable sending it anywhere else.

These people are simply the best.

In any automotive industry, I cant find people more commited to the their cars then Dave and Julee. I'm far away from them, but I always order my parts from them. And Dave is a great guy to speak to when something is wrong. He knows the Delorean.

A big thanks to both of them.

I hope someday to go there and thank them in person and see the work they do on cars.

Alan - If you are interested in coming to some of the DeLorean events here in the Twin Cities, just let me know and I'll keep you in the loop. Better yet, we have a yahoo group us MN owners coordinate events on, you should join it - http://autos.dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/mndmc/, we'd love to have you come out, even without a car.

I'll also +1 for Dave & Julie. They've come through for me several times. They ship parts the same day I order and are always a pleasure to work with and talk to. I can't say enough good about them!

Edit: Looks like you are already a member of the yahoo group! Ok, well, feel free to come to our events!

I have to echo all of the praise for Dave and Julee. I've never had any particular issues with anyone in Houston, but Dave and Julee have both been a great help ever since I first called them up. They've gone out of their way on several occasions to help me out, most notably in scrambling to get 16655 finished up in time for DCS last year, turning around and shipping me parts overnight when I wouldn't have expected them to make it, carrying down a bunch more less time-critical ones with their gear, and even bringing down the 'clutch alignment tool' they use up at Mid-West (a broken transmission shaft :P) to assist in replacing the clutch on my car. Dave has provided a whole lot of advice both directly over the phone and over the forums online that has saved me a whole lot of time and money.

I've had an overwhelmingly positive experience on the whole with both the DeLorean community and the vendors that support it. Dave and Julee have been a large part of that, and I'll happily continue to give them all the business I can.

I bought a couple of parts from Dmcmw for a manual conversion and found them great to deal with, they even delivered the parts to my friend at DCS, also Chris N speaks very, very highly of Dave and Julee.

Same with my transmission. The nut backed off the secondary shaft and flew through the case while I was driving at 55 MPH! Dave and his crew did an awesome job with my car and the Stage II upgrade.

I trailered my car down there after this issue and the SAME DAY I was driving it home. Talk about an emergency repair. Their shop has made it possible to drive my car daily and has been the standard of service by which all others in the retail industry should be judged. I have nothing but good words and the utmost confidence in their abilities.

I just need to brag on DMCMW again. I just got off the phone with Julie. I called up and after a friendly chat about the DMCH open house and DCS she already knew exactly what parts I was calling to order.

I've only dealt with three vendors since I've started living the dream (sometimes its a nightmare) but DMCMW is by far the best vendor I have dealt with. I do still shop around for the best price, but I prefer doing business with them whenever possible. Many times they are cheaper than the competition too.

I have never had a billing problem with them, they usually ship stuff out the same day, and if there is a problem with an order Julie always calls me to get the issue resolved. What more is there to say?

I'll add my 2 cents here too :)

Dave and Julee are AWESOME. End of story.

Well, actually, here's a little anecdote from my recent order:

I placed what I think was about my 8th order in 4 years and with all the packaging of big and small, some in boxes and some on its own, a couple odds and ends were left out. I got home from the Fed-Ex depot and called DMCMW. It was kind of late too, I can't remember if it was 7 or 8 Eastern, but either way, long after closing time of 5 Central. I talked to Dave with Julee in the background and he said he would figure out what the story was on my missing items.

And that he did. Not even an hour later, I get confirmation from Dave WITH a tracking number that the missing stuff was already with Fed-Ex and on it's way here. Not even 48 hours later the small box was on my kitchen table. No extra bill, no extra cost, and no hassle for me.

Top notch customer service. Something didn't go as planned and they fixed it immediately. I'll even take some of the blame as it was probably me talking Julee's ear off that got things distracted!! lol

I'd invite them to my home for Christmas dinner if it wasn't 500 miles away in a different country, hahaha!! :D Take care!! :)

*LMAO*

I'm probably one of the furthest customers they have and I can say that their service is impeccable and if they don't have what you’re looking for, they will try and get it for you/to you as soon as they can.

As an example, the shipping quotes I got through delorean.com was sometimes twice the price compared to what Julee quotes me, so a win there!

Simon...

Its bad enough for you dealing with a D in a Drive-on-the-left part of the world, but any parts that come in from the US will be upside down when they finally get down there, won't they?

Wait - knowing D & J, they go ahead and put the parts in the box upside down for you, don't they?

Yep - I'm always happy with them too. Thanks for reminding me guys, just placed my next order from them today.

Same sentiment here. I keep waiting for them to swing through New Orleans so I can meet and feed them. :)

If I weren't so shy I would have said hello in 2008, but I hope to manage to meet them in Orlando next year, if I can stop lurking in the background for a few minutes.

I think all original parts are already upside where you guys are and they right their way up upon arrival. Julee even sends a fact sheet to explain that all parts viewed on the Delorean website may look different on the other side of the equator and to review the parts as she wont give a refund if we cant work them out visually.

I just remembered that I have a part I should pick up some time soon. I'll have to get to that when the weather gets a little nicer.

The shipping is always top notch, but the drive there can be a nice stress reliever and also gives me the chance to see what's new that I haven't purchased, didn't know I needed, or have to have because its shiny since my last visit.

I've always enjoyed visiting Dave and Julee at DMCMW. by far the prime example of going above and beyond customer service. When I bought by car in 1999 I posted on the DML a question on where I could find grey pull straps for the doors. This was 6 or 7 years before DMCMW. Dave responded personally and sent me a custom made set of pull straps. I still have them on my car today. That was just the beginning of my encounters with Dave.
I'm not that involved with the Delorean as I once was, but I still know that if I ever need something, Daves a phone call away. He's the first guy I'd call.

Here too, these two took a ton of extra time and even participated in some spirited rounds of phone tag to make sure I knew what I needed and then got it as quickly as possible. They know it all and can't wait to share.

If you're reading this, add northern California to your list of places to visit... you can stop up here with the local guys and we'll take you out for some wine :)
