Has anyone retrofitted their DeLorean with custom/power seats? I drove my apartment mate's 2012 VW Eos for some errands today (my DeLorean is in the shop) and the 12-way power seats in it are really, really nice. But I don't care about the 12-way power part so much as the significantly better ergonomics. I think they could visually "fit in" to the DeLorean's interior, too, so I'm thinking about a project like that. I tried searching through the forum but wasn't able to come up with any custom seats, only custom covers for the stock seats. Has anyone done anything like this?

I feel like a bit of a broken record doing this again, but yes, I tried a pair of custom seats - not power seats however.
I wanted to get away from the leather because it causes me to sweat so much in the hot weather. I tried a set of knock off Recaro seats. After a season, I went back to the original seats. The reason is the side bolsters were a little too high to climb over getting in and out of the car and they began to get loose. Also the seats were a little higher than stock and as we all know any loss of headroom in a DeLorean is not good! In addition, the parking brake was a bit of a struggle to use. Here are a few pics of the seats anyway. One pic compares the Recaro knock off seat with an original seat out of the car, and the other obviously is a pic of the passenger side with the seat in place. I liked them, except for the afore-mentioned issues. I am still trying to source a local upholsterer who will recover my stock seats in cloth as opposed to leather.
Take a look at this series of posts:

Best looking broken record I have ever heard.

John M, the owner if the hand polished mirror finish Delorean in Ohio has power seats in his car. Now sure what vehicle the seat frames came from though. Still has stock seats on them, though I remember him talking about working on heated seats.

I suspect that one if the reasons this mod isn't in the forefront of people's to-do list is that their D is typically a one-driver car. Once the optimum position has been worked out, they just stay there.
But if you have a couple of drivers, it could be useful. You should go crazy and incorporate memory seats also.

Again, I don't really care about power or heated, the D just doesn't have a big enough interior. But damn if the stock seat doesn't hurt my back.

What is it specifically you need or are looking for?
You say you want different seats, dont care about power, and dont care about heat? You also say the stock seats hurts your back. Is that what it needs then, a different backrest to not hurt your back? Would lumber support be of any help? The existing seats can be modified to accept adjustable lumbar if your willing to do the work. Many other modifications, within reason, are also certainly possible without changing out the seats.
The problem is that aftermarket seats just dont fit well in this car. People have done it, but in my opinion (just an opinion) they are all kinda a kludge.
Having recently finished modifying my seats for both heating and cooling, I'm quite familiar with the inner structure and what options may be possible.

Really? I find them to be one of the most comfortable seats I've ever driven in. They're about the only seats that DON'T hurt my back on long trips. Usually I have to crank up the lumbar support as far as possible (if equipped). But I think because I'm almost lying down on the DeLorean seats, I have no issues. And I've done 4 trips in the last 3 months that were all 5 - 7 hours each direction.
