View Full Version : Large D M C letters made of steel... ideas for what to do with them?

A friend made me these DMC letters. They are made of steel of some kind and not coated or protected in any way. My finger grease even made them susceptible to rusting after they sat in my garage for the winter. They are wicked heavy too as the steel is relatively thick. Not so heavy you can't lift them, but to hang them on the wall would require a bit of planning.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do with them? Or what you would do with them? They are nicely done, I just don't know what or where they should go. Not thinking of hanging them in my living room, but perhaps in the garage, or something in the yard or deck perhaps. If I was someone that could weld, they could probably be made into a pretty sweet bench to sit on out on the deck.

Just wondering what you might come up with...

Put them on your grill. Just in case people can't tell what kind of car it is.

Make a 20' diameter replica wheel and they could be the center cap?

Paint them green/white/orange or red/white/blue (depending on you feelings) and hang in your garage.

Paint them white and bring them to DCS14 to collect signatures on

Have them galvanized and make them part of your deck's handrail, assuming you have a deck.

Lay them on your lawn and wait for the next Google Earth satellite pass.

I would make a coffee table out of them. Get them powdercoated and have a piece of glass made to sit on top.

Your letters may be too big, but I got big letters in stainless and put them on my engine cover.

My wife seemed to tolerate me installing a tv screen in my toilet a few years ago so I never miss any V8 Supercar racing while taking a slash, why not push it another extreme and mount massive DMC lettering in there too ;)

Put them in your oven and use them as really awesome pizza stones. DeLorean pizza party, anyone? :D

Is it bad that when you said grill I thought of this?

Possibly.

But I hear that it can lead to confusion.
