I wanted to give everyone a heads up about an upcoming episode of PAWN STARS on the History Channel called "World Series of Pawn"
that will feature me and my 11th Delorean Time Machine.

I cannot talk about the outcome until it airs, but I can warn you that a lot of Delorean supporters might be upset as
Rick was not kind to the car.
He got really frustrated with me as I kept correcting him on his "knowledge" of the car, to the point that he stopped the shooting
and took a break to get briefed on the car.
Wouldn't you know it, we developed a fuel issue and could not get it started without a little help, then it ran like crap with a high idle.
Sure, we fixed it AFTER the shoot but it made me and the car look real bad... damn.
We had just replaced the entire fuel system and the distributor and fuel mixture needed adjustment.
It was running great when we left Dallas but something about the Las Vegas desert made it run different.

Otherwise, the experience was amazing.
I wish I could tell you more, because I have more appearances coming and much more news but I can not discuss it due to contract.
I can say that it was fun!!!
We caused a huge commotion on the street when we pulled the car out. The police had to get involved to clear it out!!!

Please reserve all of your questions for me until AFTER the episode airs as I am not allowed to talk specifics, but I will come back here
after the show airs to answer any questions.
Thank you!!!

The only thing I can find on Verizon Fios's guide for that date (7/18/2013) is an episode of called Chumdog Millionaire that originally aired on 10/18/2010.

Must be a fad - we were told by a Customer that he will be on an episode of "Hard Core Pawn" (the Detroit version) airing later this month. No more info than that available.

Episode is "World Series Of Pawn".
Description: "A Los Angeles Dodgers World Series pennant signed by Frank Sinatra; a replica of the DeLorean from "Back to the Future."

I think these episodes are available on services like HULU and most likely on History Channel's website soon after airing.
I will post it up as soon as I can.
Thanks!

Aren't those the same morons who previously knew squat about the DeLorean and did something like spin the tires out? I vaugely remember it being a car a member here ended up buying. If so, not sure how you made it through the shoot without a deminishing IQ. If not, then there are way too many similar reality shows out there.

Very cool, Bob. I'm very interested to hear what your behind the scenes experience was once it airs. From what I've heard, the pawn shop is basically a tourist attraction with Pawn Stars apparel, then they dress it up like a pawn shop when they film. I'm wondering how much of it is actually still a running pawn shop and how much Rick and the rest actually work the counter and make deals like it appears they do.

As I prefaced before, Rick is one of the typical people who "know" all the wrong stuff about DeLoreans.
He really didn't like the car at all, although everyone else was going crazy.

If you have ever been to the pawn shop, it is more of an attraction that an actual pawn shop.
There are velvet ropes and a security outside with a line wrapping around the block of people waiting to get in.
Once inside, there is little for sale from the pawn shop.
What you can't see on the show is the other side of the camera angle where there is a HUGE warehouse of chochkies and crap for sale.
Everything from dinner plates to t-shirts, spoons, thimbles, bobble-heads, board games and books... all with "PAWN STARS" on it.
You have never seen anything like it.

As with most people I encounter, I immediately pissed Rick off.
We were hanging out in the back in between takes and he was showing a crew member a video on his phone of a
band called "Steel Panther".
He said, "I'm gonna get these guys to play my wedding!".
I said, "really? those guys are good friends of mine, they played my wedding at Green Valley Ranch!"
He looked at me with disdain, "They played YOUR wedding?"
I guess his ego was deflated because he felt like he was someone special to have this amazing band at his wedding.
I said, "Yeah, they did it for me for nothing, they are friends of mine, Vinnie Paul was my best man and then Chad Kroger from Nickleback
came up and sang with us and some members of Lizzy Borden, it was great!"
He just rolled his eyes and walked off mumbling... "who the fuck is THAT guy?"
He has a real ego problem that dude.

Well, since I talked so much about this "wedding", if you want to see it, it is here:

I've done a lot of television, keep in mind that used to produce TV commercials, TV shows, including NWA Wrestling.
Bottom line is, if it's on TV, it's most likely crap.
All of these shows are setup way ahead of time.
The negotiation was genuine, we did several scenes for other episodes with them and we negotiated on other items, etc.
So I can't comment on that until it airs, but no, people don't just walk in and appear on camera.
Remember, you have to be wired for a microphone and sign all sorts of forms and releases.
Until you do that you can't appear on the show.
So when you watch one of these shows where there are "fights" or whatever... it's fake.

What I can't understand is why they would abandon their pawn shop business and transform it into a knick knack store. I know they are making tons of money now, but eventually the show will run its course.

On another note, when the show first started I liked it because it was like antique roadshow without the snobbery. But now Rick and his son are arrogant know it alls, making the show unwatchable. I prefer Cajun pawn stars as those people seem decent, even though its fake as well.

Knowing that, I'm dreading seeing this episode air. Are we going to have another Monster Garage on our hands?

Bob, why did you even bother doing the show in the first place? This isn't the first time they've had a DeLorean on Pawn Stars, and they weren't kind to it then either. When they're that mis-informed about the car and the man, it's obvious that they're the kind of people who no matter what you correct them on about the true history of it all; for them it will always be John Z. was a drug dealer, and the DMC-12 is a piece of crap. The Stupid Comment of the Day thread alone proves that. And bringing them a BTTF "replica" DeLorean in my opinion only makes it worse. Now if you had the actual screen-used DeLorean, maybe Rick and his crew would consider it more valuable and unique.

I just wish that some DeLorean owners would try and do a little bit a research on these shows and the personalities starring in them before they commit to actually doing it. Jesse James and Monster Garage, and potentially now this? The last thing the DeLorean needs is more bad publicity and incorrect information getting out there; especially on a show as popular as Pawn Stars.

I'm inclined to agree with you but one thing holds me back....A true DeLorean owner or enthusiast doesn't really give a flying crap what anyone thinks, especially 3 fat ass know it alls. After all if we were worried about other's opinions we would all be in powder blue Camrys or Desert sand Accords. Let them have all the fun they want running down DeLorean in a cloud of their own ignorance. They make a ton of money so they can afford to be both wrong and stupid on camera. If you ask me, I think they get briefed on every item they show on yet another scripted reality show. I used to watch it simply because I liked seeing the items come in the shop, but about a year ago I got screwed by a pawn shop purchase here and the owner looks a lot like Rick(only fatter and uglier), so its hard for me to watch it anymore without thinking about that.

I hate seeing Rick start telling the owner about some item he has brought in the shop, even when the owner clearly knows exactly what he has and could do a better and more accurate job describing it than Rick....I suspect the same thing will happen with the DeLorean. Rick will be talking up a storm of freshly briefed info and videobob will be there nodding his head as if saying "ohhhh I didn't know that, tell me more oh wise one".

I will catch the segment on YouTube, I can't handle the entire show.

Another prediction...Chum Lee will say "awesome", Cory will make a bunch of lame jokes, and Rick will offer 25k for it.

I like to watch the show but it seems kinda obvious it's staged. How in the hell in Vegas has all these one off,
Like a med kit from the civil war in perfect shape? It's suff like that all the time and I just don't get it.
Also why would you take that valuable stuff to a pawn shop where people don't give u shit for it anyways.
Everybody knows that.

videobob
07-14-2013, 06:41 PM
I wouldn't say it is "staged", but the meetings are per-arranged.
All you have to do is email them from their website and tell them about what you have and if they like it they will let you come in.
They don't pay for your travel or anything, if you show up, your in.
The negotiation is real and the money is real.
I actually did several episodes with them all in one day and one of the items was sold and they paid me in CASH.
So it is a real business and pawn shop but honestly it's a rinky dink operation.
The waiting room for us was that room Rick does his interviews in, with all the guitars on the shelves behind him...
The warehouse is stocked with T-Shirts and some of their inventory.
It was a lot of fun.

Why did I do it?
It's a hit show that over 6 million people watch per week and I run a business where I sell exotic cars.
Do I really need to explain this?

No you don't have to explain it at all, Bob. We all know that you're a fame-whore, and that you have a business that you're trying to promote. But what sense does it make to do "that show" when you know that they're not fans of DeLorean's to begin in. You're an editor, you know they're going to spin it to make you and the car look bad. Then to have your car break down on top of that. How on earth will this help you when they make you and your car look bad? And don't try and sell us on that even bad publicity is good publicity, because it's not.

Granted, I should be more open towards this until the show actually airs to see what Rick and his cronies actually say and do. But from what you've been feeding us so far Bob, it all sounds bad. Rick offering you less than $15 k is just another piece of bad media coverage that us other DeLorean owners now have to contend with. That, and I'm sure all the DMC franchises and PJ Grady will appreciate all the phone calls and emails from people who want to buy at DeLorean for less that $10 k, because those guys on Pawn Stars said it was worth that much.

VideoBob doesn't want a fair price as that's not why he's on the show. He admitted as much himself. He is on there to get his face on TV and to advertise his business. If he was actually trying to use these as legitimate sales avenues for his cars, he would have learned his lesson with the low price that he got on Auction Kings. To him as a business owner, this is just the cost of advertising and marketing. He can sell a car for half the value on TV if that means new customers call him for cars because they saw him on the show.

While it is a legitimate business strategy, it still doesn't make him less of a whore.

They added a little bit of creative editing and sound effects at the end...
Rick always beats up on the car, I played into it a little so I am guilty too.
It's entertainment, nothing more.
This car was already bought and paid for to a guy in LA, we just timed the appearance with them
while I was on the way out there.
As I mentioned, I shot other scenes with them.
We are working on my OWN show, so these were some "test" appearances.
Hopefully it all pans out.
I am now represented by William Morris Agency as my producer has told me, he says they are one of the biggest out there.
It is really hard to get your own show going now a days, but I have my fingers, toes and suspenders crossed!!!

Congrats Bob, the appearance was pretty cool. Rick definitely did rag on the car a bit, but the way they put it together gave the impression that he knew it turned heads. And they showed Chumlee giving it some love as well. Did the car actually stall when you were backing out of the garage or did they edit that together? The way they made it come off was basically, the Delorean can be worth money, but he didn't think yours was in good running condition, which I'm sure isn't true, but as you said there were some issues that day. Overall I thought it was pretty good though, I don't think it damaged the cars image, anybody who does any research would know better anyway.

My wife and I like this show... or we used to... mostly to see the cool shit that comes through. Staged or not, reality or not, ego or not, you get to see items you wouldn't normally get to, and maybe learn a little something about them. And that was cool.

This episode brought something that's not only cool, but extremely near and dear to me to the shop and screen. It also happens to be something I'm very knowledgable about. I don't know a damn thing about an autographed copy of Dante's Inferno, a pope's slippers or Jimi Hendrix's mother's cousin's first guitar, so I believe what they say. This was entirely different. Rick was insulting to Bob and the whole community, and treated the car like it was beneath contempt, and I *knew* he was full of misinformation. So now that has me questioning whether any of their "information" on other items were any good.

Ultimately, I don't personally want a replica, but this was a nice one and certainly deserved more respect than it got.

Plus, Rick hauled himself out by the A-pillar.

Oh well... Gotta have a thick skin about these things but I hate to see it on TV.

I agree with Rick's offer though. For his lack of knowledge, that car was arguably a 14k or 15k car, and it had mechanical issues. Sure, it was a pretty looking turd, but it was still a turd. I'm sure Bob put a lot of time into it, but he's clearly more concerned with how it looks, than if its mechanically sound.

Already happened to me at work today. Guy came up to me and said, I didn't know your car was that heavy. :bang:

I told him my wife's A4 weighs about 650 pounds more than the DeLorean. I did tell him that a movie replica car would certainly weigh more with all the stuff added... trying to keep the conversation friendly.

I'm sure Bob put a lot of time into it, but he's clearly more concerned with how it looks, than if its mechanically sound.

Actually, that car had a new brake system, new clutch, complete new fuel system, new distributor, warm up regulator, lots of stuff.
It had an all new interior (DMC seat covers), new tires, new batteries, etc.
The body was straight and it drove great.
However we needed to adjust the fuel mixture after installing the new distributor, we just needed to stop by Danny's shop to get it adjusted.
So, I wouldn't call it a "turd" considering even "turds" are selling for $20K now a days.
There was about $15,000 in custom electronics and metal work on the car with about 6 weeks of man hours put into it.
I have a staff of about 7 people who all help me on the props in one form or another, some doing wiring, some doing metal work,
bending the pipes, cutting the mesh, installing the electronics, welding, plastic casting, painting and all sorts of things that make
these cars possible.

This car was my 11th out of 13 that I have built and it was sold before it was built for over $50,000
The new owner is a movie car collector and loves it very much.

When I used to produce NWA Wrestling back in the early 2000's, we used to call guys like you "marks".
The guys who watch TV and actually believe what they see.
We used to laugh about the fact that the two competing wrestlers who "hated" each other were actually room mates and arrived
in the same little car together.... then moments later they are tossing each other around in a fit of well rehearsed rage while each
wrestlers supporters or foes yelled and cheered.
I used to look at this and wonder if these people in the audience were REALLY that stupid...
apparently, they ARE.

In Television there is a lot of creative editing, sound that is put on top of video from a different place, or a facial expression made
at a different time but used where they want it to be used.
They can make it come out anyway they want.
For instance... during the interview in the parking lot, the producer asks me, "Does the time machine get a lot of ladies?"
That's why I gave that response.
That's what they wanted.
They were trying to make a "geek" joke, suggesting that this was only for "nerds" who never get laid.
So I played along and gave them what they wanted.

[***Wasteland Discussion Split HERE (http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?7666-Wasteland-***SPLIT-from-Pawn-Stars***)***]

I did DVR the Pawn Stars thing though, and just watched it. So, our cars are heavy, unreliable, ancient, hot, slow, smell like gas, and apparently are worth less than a used Kia. And until last night, I wasn't aware that DeLorean Motor Cars, Ltd. was revived in 1995 - who knew? My oh my, how the History Channel has fallen, and unsurprisingly, following the exact same formula that MTV used to destroy itself - by showing utterly worthless so-called 'reality' shows.

Yeah, glad I watched Wasteland, and even though it turned out to be something I wasn't expecting, it was definitely a million times better than watching a couple jackasses rip on our cars and misinform the public 8)

When I used to produce NWA Wrestling back in the early 2000's, we used to call guys like you "marks".
The guys who watch TV and actually believe what they see.
We used to laugh about the fact that the two competing wrestlers who "hated" each other were actually room mates and arrived
in the same little car together.... then moments later they are tossing each other around in a fit of well rehearsed rage while each
wrestlers supporters or foes yelled and cheered...

omg...you mean... wrestling is FAKE??!

We took the cleaner off because we had to prime it, and adjust the fuel mixture with an allen wrench.
If you look close you will see we stuft a little piece of paper towel into the hole because we lost the little cork that went in there.
We were on such a strict timeline, we were literally working on it along the way when ever we had time.
After the shooting, when we got to LA, we had time to work on it and get it right.

Good. I've also been told the elevation factor has been known to cause issues. Danny suspect that was the case at all. If my memory serves, LasVegas is at about 2200 feet, is that enough to cause mixture problems?

Creative editing, my ass. Bob blatently misrepresented himself and what the car was. This is almost as bad as that douche in the UK claiming his replica is the official Universal Studios car. Bob made it sound like this was his personal car that took him 10 years to make. When this is actually 1 of 13 cars that he has built. He then gives the impression that he was trying to sell it to these guys when in fact it was already sold and on its way to the buyer on the west coast. Say what you want about reality shows being staged, but when Bob actively plays into it to this extent, it just shines more of a light on how much of a attention whore he is. If he was just trying to get publicity for his custom car shop, then he would have said that much and referenced a way to get in touch with him. But Pawn Stars wanted him to pretend to be just some regular guy who has been slaving away on this one car for 10 years. Bullsh*t. Bob is as fake as they get and is just riding off his not even close to screen accurate butcher jobs.

It's a shame that he gets so much praise around here as if he was completely innocent and the victim of editing. He knew what he was getting into and completely played along just so he could get on TV.

Bob is just playing the game as best he can. Television is all about telling a good story, specifically a story to keep the viewer inclined to stick around to watch commercials, that's the #1 goal. Someone trying to sell their pride and joy of a personal project is much more interesting than someone coming on to offer a product they have many of and sell day-to-day. Also, you think the History Channel would let someone come on and just start advertising their website and give out contact info? Free advertising is for no one, you see TV stations blur out logos all the time. But Bob can at least get his mug and product out there and that's what he did and provided an entertaining story and established himself as a builder of time machines to a new audience which was the goal. This situation is definitely not uncommon among other shows represented as "reality" and I'd like to see you write an open letter to the History Channel and A&E if you're so upset about it. I can understand if you have issues with the fact that Bob turns DeLoreans into time machines or whether or not they're screen-accurate, but this isn't really a legitimate thing to criticize without criticizing the entire television industry.

I have no problem with reality shows or even BTTF conversions. What I do have a problem with is Bob trying to use his conversions as his personal ticket to fame. That's where it stops being marketing for his services and becomes misrepresentation of himself. By giving the impression that he built this one and only car for himself it doesn't give the viewer any incentive to even search for if conversion services exist. So that representation is counter-productive to trying to get new customers. Instead the motivation becomes "Hey, look at this car I have. Put me on TV."

The History Channel and Pawn Stars are certainly not innocent in this, but Bob knew that and used this as an opportunity get more screen time for himself rather than his business. It's one thing to get Kevin Pike to endorse your builds, it's quite another to use the car just to get on TV.

I was okay with Auction Kings... I was even okay with the Kevin Pike video... but this is just exploitation of the car not for the benefit of his business, but for him personally. And I would think this forum would be against that sort of thing instead of the messages of "aww, tough break on the low offer".

Like I said, the guy in the UK who regularly misrepresents his car as being "the official Universal Studios car" is reviled on various forums, but Bob gets a pat on the back and a "better luck next time".

Long story short...in the effort to launch the DeLorean into mainstream, (not just videobob, DMCH and their Solstice stunt come to mind) they have almost turned it into a laughing stock. It's no longer a rare and uncommon sight, but something to look at and say "Yeah, I saw one on TV last night, and the night before, and the night before.

martydmc12
07-19-2013, 06:34 PM
I finally saw it, and it's honestly not as bad I was was thinking it was going to be. I was expecting full-on "Monster Garage", with Rick trash talking the car and John Z.

But the fact remains, it's bad publicity for the DeLorean itself. To have a DMC-12 thats engine looked like it had been sitting in a barn for years, is just not a good imagery that any DeLorean owner/enthusiast wants. Had that car been in better mechanical shape, perhaps it could have played differently, or do I dare say, even more positively.

The low-ball price; after Bob revealed here on the forums that this car wasn't for sale really shows in the poor acting ability that he and the Pawn Stars pulled off. Rick obviously couldn't have offered more, and Bob couldn't have come down either, because the thing wasn't for sale in the first place. So let's just do a faux negotiation which we know won't go anywhere, and call that a wrap.

I feel bad for the guy who did end up buying it. Bob states that it went to a movie car collector. Obviously that the owner will now have to take to someplace like DMC California for them to do some actual restoration work on the stock DeLorean itself, if they want it in running "reliable" condition. Don't get me wrong, I'm not pissing on Bob's replica work, but to present a DeLorean in that sort of condition on national television; so sad for our cars to get that sort of attention.

Next time you do something like this Bob (because we all know that you will), all I'm asking, and I'm sure others would agree, A) make sure that the stock DeLorean itself is in running and visually good looking condition (that engine compartment just looked pathetic). B) Put it on a show where they are actually interested in it, and won't be so negative on the car and it's history.

He has no incentive to do that seeing as how his intention was always to get himself on TV... not the car.

If it was really about his business, then where are all his appearances with the Ecto-1 and the A-Team van that he sells? Where is the Blues Brothers car? They aren't in his appearances because no one would book him with those cars. They want the DeLorean and he uses it to tag along.

Actually, we also shot a Ghostbusters episode that will air in a few months.
I also have an appearance booked with my Ghostbuster car with Ernie Hudson and my (soon to be finished) A-Team van with a few actors from that show.
I have been appearing on TV shows my entire life, starting with "Putting on the Hits" when I was 12 years old in 1987.
I also did stand up comedy for a while and hosted a TV show called "ComiXspotlight" and another show called "Videobob's Stupid Movie of the Week"
that ran in 73 cities for about 5 years.
Then, I shot a pilot (that went no where) of a motorcycle show called "Wrenching and Riding", but that was during the big biker show craze of the
early 2000's.
If you look at my IMDB you will see that I have acted and extra'd on a lot of TV shows, mostly FOX, such as "Prison Break", "Chase", "The Good Guys" etc.
I have been featured by a lot of local TV stations, news and entertainment outlets, magazines and rags and well a radio show I used to be on here
in Dallas called "The Mich Show", an afternoon drive talk show.

My point in all this is, yes, I have been pursuing television and entertainment my entire life.
However, I found my skills making TV was better than my chances of being in front of the camera, but that hasn't stopped me.
I have done hundreds of voice overs, TV commercials, and over 300 music videos, some have played on MTV and some can be found
on store shelves.

It just so happens that I am handy at building stuff and I love building these cars and props and I am a smart man and I realize
that there is a good living to be made in this field, so why not empower ALL of my skills that I have learned over the years to
make it success? I am good on camera, I know what the crew wants, what the producers want and what the audience wants.

You always have to remember that when you are watching TV it is all about entertainment, show, news or otherwise.
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING on TV is to be taken with a PILE of salt.

I have to agree. Why does everyone care so much what he said on the show? If he said he was a professional prop builder that makes these cars for a living, they wouldn't have even had him on the show. It's just TV. Why does everyone expect it to be so real? Bob is just trying to make a living like everyone else. Why the hell does everyone care so much about how he promotes his business? What's with the cyber lynch mob? Is this how everyone is going to act at DCS 2014? The tv show is for entertainment, that's it; and its not directed at DeLorean owners, it's for average joes that watch pawn stars. Most viewers probably already forgot everything about the episode.

I think it was just cool to have some more BTTF and Delorean exposure. Honestly I don't even see where everyone is getting that the car received bad press. So one guy thought it was heavy. Who the hell cares? I love DeLoreans a lot, believe me, but I've come to terms with the fact that DeLoreans are ALWAYS going to be misunderstood and misrepresented. Why does everybody always act so surprised when a TV show says something like they're heavy or underpowered?? It's been happening for 30 years and it's not going to change anytime soon. I recommend trying to get used to it and learning to pick your battles. You can't just educate the world; people won't listen. In addition, remember, with regard for the brand, even bad publicity is better than no publicity. It keeps the cars relevant.

Some people though - in fact most people - hide behind the protective computer screen. Annoys TF outta me.

I was most civil in my posts to Bob, as was Bob. But yeah, I get what your saying. The dynamic of Internet discussions is pretty fascinating. In some ways, I think it makes people more honest, but equally creates just as much, if not more confusion sometimes because unlike a real face to face conversation which involves many components, eye contact, body language, etc... these forums tend to be very one demential. Emoticons help, and this forum seems to be kinda unique in the fact that so many active users seem to know each other personally. Whatever, thanks for reminding us.

I think Bob has got the selling of movie cars down to an art... They are really fun for him to build, he makes money at it, and I for one am happy he does it, just that simple. Bob knows the price means NOTHING, Pawn Stars low balls it BFD, let somebody who wants one, try to buy one... they will figure it out in a short time, how much it will cost.

Keep doing your best Bob! :driving1:

Bob,
Are you paid for being on the show? Are there any people who just walk in to pawn something and picked to be on the show?

I like watching the show to see some of the unique items that people bring in.

No, they don't pay for anything at all, no travel, nothing.
You send them an email and they interview you, then talk on the phone and they set up an appointment.
That's it!
We did end up getting some parking tickets at the meters we were parked at and they paid them for me.

The show isn't "scripted" but you do have to set up the scenes, driving or walking in, the "meeting",
which we have to do a few times. The crew gets lots of shots of the items while you wait.
The negotiations are real for real money.
I shot another scene (to be aired later) where they did buy the item and paid me in cash.

Now, when I did the show "Auction Kings", they did pay for my travel and hotel, as well as Kevin Pike's.
The bidding on the auction only went to $55K on the show but the truth was that I had a $60,000 reserve
on the car and the production paid me the extra $5K to meet it so that it would be completed.
Although I wasn't happy about that, but that's a different story.

As for the car on Pawn Stars, I sold it the next day to a collector in LA for $50,000 cash.
Thanks!

If that's true, then even cooler. Curious, what's his proof? (ie: A signed letter from the director)

Was there just one car or were there several like in most car-based movies? Seems like there would have to be at least a couple. Been a long time since I watched that film but I seem to recall the car fixing itself (body work) at least once.

I found this page a while back that shows what happened to the cars they used for filming Christine. I think there were like 20 cars that were used to make the film. Most were belvederes and savoy's dressed to look like a Fury. In the beginning scene where there is the 'assembly line' and all the cream colored cars and the one red christine car...all of those other cars were eventually painted red and used in other scenes of the movie.

http://www.forwardlook.net/features/billandeds.htm

If I remember correctly the car hylnder777 owns was one of the stunt cars with blacked out windshield. It was used in the night scene where christine was chasing down moochie

Thanks I've owned a few screen used vehicles; Christine is the one I’ve owned the longest almost 30 years and is all over the web, documented and signed by John Carpenter and the cast of the movie. She was just at Paul Casey’s Las Vegas Car Stars Event with Malcolm Danare the actor she runs down in the alley. I also made a short film with Danny from DMC of Garden Grove as a UK production Co brought her on to be in a skit based on the top film cars of all time. He had a BTTF car and I had Christine, both made the cut, lol. I'm involved with Nate Truman's StarCarCentral.com and do many charity events and parades with my vehicles. It's fun stuff.

There’s lots of information on http://internationalchristineclub.net/forumdisplay.php?70-Martin-Sanchez-s-Christine-Movie-Car

Christine’s FB (She’s sharing with the DMC)
https://www.facebook.com/christines.fury

She was just inducted into the Mopar Hall of Fame at the Carlisle event. Two screen used stunt cars remain. I have been involved with both since I rescued mine from the crusher in 1984.

The Delorean is also one of my top 10 vehicles and getting the opportunity to own a Time Machine was an epic moment as along with the movie Christine, BTTF is right up there.

Other film cars include, Nissan Skyline GT-R from “2 Fast To Furious”, Terminator 2 Judgment Day Harley Davidson Fat-Boy but this is a DMC forum and you guys probably don’t care, lol 

There are a lot of good people on this forum that have been very helpful with advise and posting how too fix, etc. Thanks to all of you for posting. I'm quite the electro gear head. I already have the car set up so when the digital speedometer ramps up to 88 standing still or actually getting to 88mph and it does :) all hell breaks loose with the reactor chamber firing up then energy flowing threw the flux bands into the wormhole emitter, flux dispersal igniting electrical arching sound, and smoke out the rear vents all in unison with the movie's f/x track complete with sonic boom at the end, no flame trails though, I know, I'm so geeked out, lol but the audience loves it. All controlled with my old Android phone..I'm not done yet...Just wait until I figure out larger Futaba servo's

Good eye!! Yes they were, this bike was in a Planet Hollywood in California that went out of business several years ago. It was pulled by a trailer for close up scenes and also used in the alley where he speaks to the Terminator after the semi explosion. I don't ride anymore as I was t-boned by a full size truck years back on my in-laws bike. I now get a bit shaky and uncomfortable so I decided to stop.

One thing, if it hadn't been converted or Butchered as the purists call it and yes,a Delorean should stay a Delorean, but, it happens....Just like a red and white Belvedere becomes Christine!

We all know what our cars are worth so it doesn't matter that some BS TV reality show tells you it's worth $5. Really, it's called "Pawn Stars" Nothing good can come from that. I's all for entertainment.and the inflation of egos.

I had nothing to do with the show and had never heard of it, it was just a free ticket to get my dream come home to California.
This was the only way I myself would have ever obtained one of these cars for no money out of pocket. You just trade here and there and don't take stuff to a Pawn Store, you get more at a swapmeet.

Besides, it's amazing the smiles this butchered car brings to many that will never see Christmas or their next birthday because their sick and dying. My calling for this car is Charity events. I also am a part of an organization that helps find Foster Children forever homes and our tag line is "Let's Help Give Foster Kids Back a Future". We display the butchered car to bring attention to the thousands of abandoned or neglected children that end up in the foster care system. If someone was willing to give me a non butchered Delorean to do this, great, but no one has come forward, so the butchered car will have to do:smile:

Well that's a good use of the car. I think we can all agree that is great, but I think the anger (maybe too strong a word) was directed at videobob and not your "butchered" car.

Some of us like the attention, some of us don't. But one thing I think we all have in common is we don't like false information, or douchebags belittling our beloved car for their own personal gain. This is true for the pawn stars or videobob.

I have no concern whatsoever of the "perceived" value because of some idiotic show...I did not buy the car for an investment or to take care of it for the next owner. I drive it constantly and enjoy it.
If it brings a smile to a kid that may not have much time left, so be it.
What bothers me is that everyone thinks the time machine is the "end all, be all" of Deloreans...and that if you DO NOT want a converted car or have your car done over, you are not a true fan of the car.

Seems to me that butcher bob played right into their hands...

Good. I've also been told the elevation factor has been known to cause issues. Danny suspect that was the case at all. If my memory serves, LasVegas is at about 2200 feet, is that enough to cause mixture problems?

There is an entry in the Workshop Manual on this I believe. If memory serves, if a DeLorean is going to be driven constantly at an elevation over 4,000', then the CIS fuel mixture must be adjusted for emissions and possibly long-term fuel economy. If you're just driving through some place like Denver or SLC, you've no worries and shouldn't see much of an impact at all.

Unless you're competitively racing like NASCAR or NHRA you never see any difference, which is why Vegas is such a challenge for drivers there (radical heat, humidity, and barometric pressure differences thanks to the chinook winds from the Great Basin that become the Santa Anas down in SoCal.).

Biggest problem for DeLoreans in Vegas from other places: Noisy fuel pumps from collapsed hoses.

However, I found my skills making TV was better than my chances of being in front of the camera, but that hasn't stopped me.

Dude, you ain't got to explain jack shit. Do your thing. I'm one of the most critical people out there when it comes to protecting the marque, and you and I haven't been on the best of terms in the past. But I'm gonna tell you right now that you didn't do anything wrong, and you've got no one here to answer to. I'm not bothered by the episode, and while most people like me watch the show to see cool stuff (as well as I'm so homesick for Vegas), they also pretty much agree that Rick is a dick. Especially if you live in Vegas where they've done "undercover" news reports about pawn shops buying scrap gold and that place was the worst price in town.

If you ever deal with these guys again, make sure you bring in a copy of Battletoads for us and ask if that will sweeten the deal.

Pawn Stars doesn't exist for the person walking into the store to come out with anything resembling a good deal, except for people like Bob. Taking a loss on something like this isn't crippling, it's publicity plain and simple.

Most people wandering in off the street are looking for income of any kind. Bob (I THINK) has a relatively secure income stream from other projects and doesn't need to rely on Pawn Stars for anything other than subsidized advertising.

Well, if I was on a program like this to show my face twice and look a little like a dick at the end is not what I call good publicity. To me if felt that Bob was not given any opportunity to provide enough product knowledge in either case for them to basically say "gee, this guy knows his shit". Both occasions, it feels like "well, as far as what we know, it aint worth that much." To say the Delorean or Proton Pack is worth X-amount, you want to justify it. When they knock down the offer, then some type of comeback to drive the price back up. "The screen used Delorean was sold for $600K so this is worth at least $50K", "Deloreans in good condition are worth at least $25K", etc.

Personally, I felt that it really burnt the Delorean name. And will be repeated on re-runs and DVD collections.

I will try to explain this again, without sounding condescending....
Many of you don't know that wrestling is fake.
I used to be a producer for NWA.
The "foes" used to arrive in the same car because they were roommates.

One does not simply walk into a TV show Pawn Shop...
You are booked months in advance.
I spent about 8 hours there at the Pawn Shop, waiting, shooting scenes, doing several versions, etc.
Everything is set up, not necessarily scripted but "suggested" by producers.
They shoot several versions of the outcome, the happy version, the sad version.... then they edit it how they want it to come out.

Since appearing on the show I have been recognized often, while standing in line at the checkout at store, or in a bar, a gas station.
The car on that episode was #11, I am now building #14, so it didn't hurt sales.
As for the Ghostbusters Proton Pack that I all but gave away for $1050, I have sold about 20 or more since then (at $2500 each).
I am shipping out 5 of them this morning.
So, I do not regret my appearance on the show and it has not hurt my business a bit.
Pretty much most of the public "get it".
For the those that don't, you may return to FOX News.

For the those that don't, you may return to FOX News.

What's that supposed to mean exactly? Fox News Channel (FNC) is almost perfectly balanced in all respects, as was proven in a recent Pew Research study.

MSNBC, on the other hand, was proven to be heavily biased and mostly opinion (as opposed to objective factual reporting) - something that their leadership and figureheads didn't deny.

So, I guess what Bob is saying here is that he doesn't like/respect well rounded and well informed individuals - correct?

Instead, Bob must prefer those who are extremely biased and trust more in someone else's subjective opinion than they do in the objective facts.

Must be because Bob's business / livelihood depends upon there being a large pool suckers that he can exploit???

Based on the objective evidence, this is the only logical conclusion that one can arrive at.

My apologies to those who enjoy watching propaganda news networks.
I don't watch any of them.
I get my news from the Howard Stern show.

Oh come on! Ban him! He's asking for it! If it were me or Nightflyer we'd be banned for sure! Accipiter was very clear, was he not?

Seriously, Robert "Bob" Moseley, for a businessman and person trying to expand your presence, you don't seem to be trying to make many more friends on this forum. Are you a dick in real life too?

Listen, I'm not saying he's wrong, I'm not saying he's right. But he was warned! He was given a pass and he said "fuck you" by posting a retort like that!

Just recently I met with Kirk Hammett of Metalica.
He recognized me from doing the TV shows.
He said, "I've seen your stuff on eBay, I collect movie props! I want one of your Proton Packs! Let me get your card!"
Pretty awesome.
This is why I do these things.

Here is a news story about my meeting:

He's not a TV persona. Rick is a TV persona. Bob is an attention whore with an over inflated opinion of himself and a Proton Pack stuck up his ass!

Keep track of all my attention whore appearances here:

I will be appearing in a new movie called "Blood Sombrero" shooting this month, starring members of Machete, Walking Dead and more!
Keep an eye out for my reruns on both The History Channel and Discovery Channel!
Thanks!

Whichever one will take you outta here. For fucks sake, achieve some real fame so you can leave us little people behind so as to spare us your pathetic boasting and self promotion.

Based on the objective evidence, this is the only logical conclusion that one can arrive at.
...

Seems like an odd definition of "objective" you are using there...
There is the ridiculous idea that the news should be just that, certainly not over half opinion! Like they say, a turd is a turd no matter how many peanuts are in it.
They all suck...well beyond 'lesser of evils'...

I just saw all this going on (from today's posts).

Everyone - take a breath - walk away from your computers - relax. No more blasting each other, no more saying hateful things. You got bones to pick - take it to PMs. We're done here.

I'm not doing any banning - I'm still earning my stripes. Threads I'll lock - bans - not yet.

Everyone cool off. This goes any farther and this thread will be locked.

:). My view as being a moderator is I want to give people a chance to work things out. The forums don't need policing; they need a chance to work themselves first. If that fails, then I show up.

I've been watching this thread for a bit - saw Accipiter's warning - was hoping that would be the end of it. Watched it progress to this point, and felt it was time to say something.

It's a delicate balance between observing/hoping people can work it out and moderating the forums. I prefer to let things work themselves - if not... :lockdance:

Seems to me it did. There hadn't been any activity since 12:40 or something. Then you showed up with a "break it up" type post.

But by all means :lockdance: away... You're doing a swell job, sir.

Thank you for your compliments.

I gave the "break it up" style post because I felt it was appropriate for everyone to know that you have moderators watching what's going on. I wanted forum users to know "Don't worry, we're not going to let it get out of hand, and if it does, we'll keep this clean." It wasn't to re-razzle the situation or re-fan the flames. It was to assure everyone here that we've got your backs. I also typed it because Accipiter gave his warning, and the thread carried on, and I know people were wondering "ok.....?? Um... there was a warning given. What in the world? Why is no one doing anything about this???" Accipiter may have had RLS (Real Life Syndrome) and hadn't gotten back to stop the thread; hence, I stepped in.

As a moderator, I know I don't have to explain any of this to anyone, but I feel it's your right to know why I do what I do. I didn't agree to become a mod to be power-hungry; I did it to protect the integrity of these forums, and to help weed out undesired drama. I want people to know the mods are just like everyone else - human beings - not some forum gods. We're like everyone else.

With all of this being said - the thread has served its purpose. Anyone wants to see the DeLorean Time Machine on Pawn Stars, they sure can either in this thread or on Youtube.

Cleanup on Aisle 4 finished.
