This is just a mind game at this point but I thought I'd see what happens when this idea is posted to the group. Why make a change like this? Because.
A number of folks have converted to electric fuel injection from the mechanical fuel injection on the DeLorean. The Bosch mechanical injection works quite well but there are benefits to using a micro based controller.
The Bosch CIS system uses a plate that is deflected by the air flow to modulate the proper fuel amount. The more air, the more deflection and the more fuel to maintain 14.1:1 ratio. The O2 sensor is interpreted and controls the FV tweaking the mechanical response. But for all practical purposes it is a mechanical system.
The Idea: What if we removed the plate and and connect the arm to an actuator that was under micro control (Megasquirt?)? With the plate gone we would no longer have that obstruction in the air flow. The micro can provide the control response required based on the std EFI sensors and the fuel delivery can stay the same. Properly done, one would never know by looking at the engine.
Yes I know there are other and better ways to accomplish micro based fuel delivery... that is not the point. But it would be interesting to run this on a test stand to see how well it would work.
