I installed one of the new Fuel Pump/Sender Module a couple of months ago. I have been having problems starting the car after it sits overnight. The frequency valve will buzz any wear from a minute and half to 2 minutes before it shuts off. When I start the engine it behaves as if it is starved for fuel. It will typically fire and die. After several attempt the engine will fire but idles very low and need the accelerator feather to stay running. After two to three minutes it runs and idles fine. Car runs fine and has no other issue. If it is shut off and restarted within a couple of hours no problems.

I thought I had read that a batch of the new units had a check valve problem but I can’t find anything on the forum. I emailed DMC about this issue but received no response. Has there been a problem with the new units? Thanks.

If the FV keeps buzzing after shut off that sounds like the RPM relay is at fault. It may also be causing your other problems.

I have a spare RPM relay I can swap out tonight and see if that helps. I may have miss spoke, the FV doesn’t buzz after I engage the starter only if the ignition is in the on position. When the engine is running I do not hear the FV, thanks.

The FV should be buzzing when the fuel pump is running. Durring prime (with the OEM relay) and when the engine is running.

Swapped out the RPM relay and it made no difference. The fuel accumulator has been in about 15 years so I might try that next.

Mine lasted about 6.5 years.
