First off if you are wondering why I'm asking for help with my Bose Noise Canceling Headphones on a Delorean forum and you are thinking, how is this Delorean related, let me tell you.

I have a Stage II motor and the headers are loud http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMQUoyW2fRw

Second my wife won't ride in it unless she has her noise canceling headphones working. 8)

Notice the cable has torn away from the strain relief. Any ideas on how to fix it so I don't break the wires. I thought about using Heat Shrink but because of the 90 degree plug it won't fit over. I also thought about cutting the wires sliding on some heat shrink and then soldering the wires. but I'm not sure this is "wire" you can solder.

A new one is about 30 bucks but, I hate throwing a working anything away. We don't repair anything anymore.

What do you think?

If it were me, I would cut the wires and replace the jack...I would gamble that's not fiber core wiring.

If I were to play it safe, I would use some hot glue on the gap, followed by a few wraps of tape to keep that area from bending as little as possible.

I had the same noise problem when I installed Harvey's stainless steel headers on my car. The solution was to wrap the headers and mufflers with fiberglass cloth which is sold by PepBoys and other auto suppliers. The wrap not only reduced under the hood heat but also dampens the added noise the headers produce. I also used Dynamat to cover the rear panels which also helps.
