So I have my engine and transmission disconnected and ready to remove but I am having trouble with one cable. It sits on top of the transmission through a bracket with what looks like two 21mm bolts on the sides? I believe this is the cross gate cable? My question is, how do I disconnect this from the transmission? Do I need to disconnect the bracket from the tranny or can I use 2 21mm wrenches and just loosen the cable completely? Sorry in advance if this description sounds bad but I have looked online a bunch and can't find any pictures or help for what this cable is or how to remove it. Thanks in advance for the replies!

It is best to disconnect the cable with the support bracket from the transmission. If you look up from under the car you will see the cable end (clevis). Remove the Hair pin from the clevis pin and remove the pin from the clevis. Swing the linkage out of the way and reinstall pin and hairpin into the clevis so you don't lose it. Using a mirror you will be able to see the cable support bracket bolts along the top of the end case. Remove only the bolts for the support bracket. their are 3 bolts (2 short,1 long) IIRC. One of them is a bit of a bugger to get at, but can be done with the 1/4 drive socket/extension combination. A wobble extension works great for this job.
