Can't I buy those separately?

If one goes bad do I need to change the whole arm?

Sounds like an arms and legs thing!!

Why not just get aftermarket polyurethane ones? That's what I did when I invented my LCA brace.

Poly bushings for the whole car are available from DMC Midwest. I believe they buy them from Ed Uding in Europe.

I installed poly bushings on the front upper control arms but it's a pain in the ass. I wouldn't recommend it unless you've got a hydraulic press and can get creative with spacers. I don't think the intention was ever to have repair shops swapping bushings in the field, they were just supposed to swap the whole upper arm, hence the supply of upper arms with bushings already pressed in. The only reason to ever swap UCA bushings would be if you want polyurethane. I did it because I also wanted to powder coat all my suspension parts and the baking process would have destroyed the original rubber.

See here for info on swapping the upper arm bushings:
http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?5470-Polyurethane-Bushings&p=78192&viewfull=1#post78192

The lower control arm bushings are identical to the rear upper and lower link bushings. If you decide to go with polyurethane on these the fronts are slightly different though and have a notch to help you get them in the frame easier. More info at that same link above. I recommend these since they're easy to install and firmed up the fore/aft movement of the arm. I also installed aftermarket LCA support brackets, also with poly bushings and the difference there was huge.

For the rear links I'd recommend replacing with rubber and not using poly. If you search the forum you'll find a few others who agree. I didn't like the way the poly had to wedge in the frame for the lower links vs. the stock rubber design which leaves a little more clearance for everything to flex. DMCH sells remanufactured rubber bushings built from the original design specs.

These reman bushings will work for the front LCA and for rear links. At 14 bucks each it was well worth the time to swap them out. Here is more info on how to swap the rear links:

Yesh Thanx mark,
I have just been reading all the posts about the issue.

I would also avoid the polyurethane. But who sells the front arm bushings rubber ones? Or the rear arm bushings?

And my question was not answered. Do I need to buy a new complete arm assy?

Oh and where is DMCmw site store? All I see is the Houston Store site link

I'd replace the arms in their entirety. I did my rear link arms about a year and a half ago, and had them modified to be adjustable. Two bushings cost pretty much as the arm with the bushings in it (well, at least when I got them from PJ Grady; I didn't see the $13 price on DMCH); I didn't realize it at the time, and if I had I would have just bought new arms and had them converted. Worse, something went wrong when I pushed out my bushings and the NOS ones I tried to install were too loose, and simply fell through. Since I'd already modified the arms, I couldn't just get new arms (well, not without getting them made into adjustable ones again). Luckily the front polyurethane bushings were just the right size for my rear arms and I was able to use those.

That's my single experience, though, and it's probably not typical. Your mileage may vary and all that.

As far as I know you can't just buy the UCA bushings in rubber, you have to buy the whole upper arm with bushings already installed.

Or the rear arm bushings?

The rear arm bushings are the ones I posted in my last reply:

For the rear upper and lower links, no. Just buy the bushings and swap them in and out. For the front upper arm you will need to replace the whole thing if your current bushings are shot and you want to stay with rubber

DMCMW has no online store but they stock all the same parts as DMCH plus a few specialty parts that only they carry. Call Julee or Dave at 815-459-6439 and tell them what you're looking for.

I bought my poly bushings years ago from www.superflex.co.uk and have been very pleased with them. I do have Toby's front sway bar bushing set and that is top of the line as well!

Okay, Cause DMCFL, where I bought my D from, had take out the orginal front arm and replaced it with this unpainted, un-bushing-ed bare rusted metal arm

So I figured they are sold separately

Will probably order those then.

Dave has been VERY active in this forum always with short and to the point answers. Too bad I did not go by his place to meet him in person when I lived in Chicagoland.

Cheers Patrick. Delorean.eu has them as well at a slight up price. But interesting link;)

All stock rubber bushings are available separately from any of the DMCH dealers EXCEPT the front upper control arm inners. They only come with the whole arm. They are difficult to get out of the arm without messing up the arm anyway.

The only urethane parts that we are now stocking are the sway bar clamp and end bushings. Others will have to come from DMC Europe or the others mentioned.
