Angle Drive Nut Stuck

Any suggestions? Its been soaking in PB Blaster and I've even tried to use a floor jack under the wrench with no luck. Just lifts the car up. I can't heat it as I'd just end up melting the brake line.

100% you're going in the right direction? Try loosening the hub nut too.

Assuming I was able to look at it from the rear of the hub it should be counterclockwise like any other bolt shouldn't it? I guess I can try to loosen up the hub nut like you suggest and see what happens.

With wrench on nut and handle pointing towards the front of the car you would be jacking up on the end of the handle. You'd be surprised at the number of folk that confuse how you loosen the nut.

Nevermind -- I see you already tried a floor jack. Something is definitely wrong if you can't break it free with hydraulic fluid (the same stuff they use in backhoes and the Jaws of Life).

Yes - with the wrench toward the front of the car you should be lifting it up. Loosening the outer hub nut usually helps.

I've used the floor jack trick too, then sit on the fender.

BTW when you put it back together, tighten the angle drive nut BEFORE the hub nut as you want to be sure the tapered spindle is locked in place.

+1 on hub nut first. When you get that loose (left loosey with a breaker bar of some kind, 2' length maybe) the angle drive nut will come right off.

In this case it's righty loosey as you look at the wheel (the threads are facing away from you). That is why a floor jack lifting the wrench up typically works.

Figures...I left the socket I need to get the hub nut off in Virginia. Guess I'll have to buy another tomorrow. Well at least I got the new steering rack and front shocks installed. Now I just need to attach the rack to the steering wheel and get the tie rod ends attached to the knuckles.

Autozone and advanced auto will both rent you the tool for free, just need to leave a refundable deposit. If you have one of them in your area you might be able take advantage of that.

Thanks for the tip. Loosened the hub nut finally and the angle drive nut spun off by hand after that.
