Came across this link on CNBC. I'll have to tune into the auction to see what it goes for. Interesting but not surprising that this is actually a replica used in the film and not a real Ferrari.

It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

See what a finski can do to a guy's attitude...
That was a great movie!
Nice ride by the way :)
I take it this is not the one that drove through the glass window?

That was my first thought too. According to the article, they used 3 cars. This one in particular was used to pick up Sloan from school and throw the hat in the air. It was also used in the jump scene when the valet guys were joyriding around Chicago.

Yeah I read the article as well. Cool!

If you've got millions to spend, and you're buying Cameron's Dad's car, why not also buy his house?

The car sold for $230k. That was lower than I thought.

Yes it was used in a scene where I stood 2 months ago.
"Oh Sloan dear, come now...."
The one with the water on the background was where Cameron has burnt a microship or two. I found that by pure coincidence!
The chuch is in the same street, but used in another famous 80' movie, who knows??
I go to Chicago for work from time to time but I have hardly any time to myself. The companies I go to are north of Chicago and a half hour drive away from some great filming locations. So I go see that. The Home alone house is also there.
House from Uncle buck,... all realy close.
Bit of topic, sorry.

Shermer, Illinois!! Awesome!!
Was Jake waiting to pick any birthday girls up in his red Porsche at that church??
Growing up wouldn't have been the same if John Hughes wasn't making films for us :)

I read an article yesterday about the Real Ferrari that sold yesterday/ it broke records and sold for $27 Million. They were expecting $14 million. Crazy!

Not quite the same car, but close. The Ferrari you were referencing was a 275 Spyder, the successor to the 250 Spyder portrayed in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. While both are multimillion dollar cars, the 275 is even more sought after than the 250.

yes!!!
Jake was indeed there in a red Porche. You know what film it is. I'll see if someone else knows.
The house where Samanthe Baker lives is also very close to that spot.
I have all the DVD's from John Hughes' films. The house from Cameron is was a bit more north, but I did not have the time then. I will try to go there next time.
It is usually the time I have to myself just before going to the airport to fly back to Brussels, so I am under time pressure then.

I seem to recall that the cars used in Ferris Bueller's day off were all replicas built on MG chassis'. The one used in the car opening scene was in fact, real! SWB 250's from that era are just so damn hard to come by and so highly sought after that renting one would still break a movie production budget. Real or not, a 250 GT California is just a gorgeous car and the 275 Spyder comes in a close second. Speaking of which, the one that sold for $27m was a NART 275 correct?

Yes, an NART. That's why it was worth so much (the charity aspect might have helped as well). 275s generally aren't worth nearly as much as most 250s.
